we are considering going away for february vacation for just a few days with our 2 children 6 and 3. I'd love some ideas for reasonably priced family vacations (packages, day trips, etc) something that maybe has snow tubing and beginner ski lessons would be along the lines of what we are thinking...

What can I do next?

Hi Jenn
I have been looking into tubing places for my boys with the youngest being 2. Most places have a minimum hight or age requirement even with parents permission. I couldnt find one place that I could bring them with the baby

It's not an outdoor activity but the indoor water parks are a blast. Coco Keys in Danvers and I heard there is one in Fitchberg now. All ages will have a lot of fun.

When I had checked prices for ski and stay packages at Sunday River at the beginning of the season, the prices were pretty decent, considering the prices included a lift ticket or lessons for each person (especially since lift tickets normally cost around $75 each). It might be more expensive during vacation time, but it's worth looking into.

I may be a bit biased, but for a family vacation that is affordable, has tubing and all levels of ski lessons, including rentals, it has to be King Pine in East Madison NH. I'm not sure if they are booked out already, but there are several other hotel, motel in the vacinity. The people are friendly and very helpful.

I dont really have an advice on where to go but I do keep seeing a few places on tv advertising tubing. If your school was one that missed a week before christmas because of the ice storm they may opt to make up snow days during that vacation I know my son's school is considering it if we get any more snow days and we are already making up 3 of the days during April vacation.

Gunstock has tubing, lessons, and lights for night skiing. Bea's is a hotel with an indoor pool, and a hot tub. I know some have reccommended Coco Keys, but I can't get out of my head that last winter break they made the news for contamination, and most folks got nasty skin conditions, due to overcrowding. I would look into that first before booking there and having it happen again, as it tends to be a busy time. Gunstock is quick to get to, and is affordable with packages, and there is lots of other things to do there, and from the top of the mountain, you can see the lake. I think it is the best mountain for a family winter vacation locally.
Good luck and enjoy either way,
D. S.

Our winter get aways are always include a heated indoor pool!

What about North Conway, NH? Not sure where you live, but you can get skiing, tubing, shopping, the cog rail and swimming too!

Enjoy!
