My mother in law, sister in law and 2 grown and pregnant nieces are coming into town this weekend and staying with us. I am looking for a few recipes (breakfast, lunch, dinner and of course dessert) that will blow them away. I am looking for recipes that are not complicated or that don't require uncommon ingredients. Any recipe that you have that are easy and people RAVE about, please do share...

What can I do next?

Creme Brulee French Toast is made the night before, baked in the morning (you can omit the Grand Marnier) and they will REMEMBER this breakfast!

Lunch/dinner - pulled BBQ beef or pork in the crock pot. Cook chuck roast with a quartered onion, drain, shred with 2 forks, add BBQ sauce. Serve on buns.

Okay, I make this french toast casserole for family brunches and it is seriously amazing! All the relatives ask about it constantly! It's really easy but you have to remember to assemble it the night before b/c it needs to soak overnight.

For lunch or dinner the pulled pork in the crock pot is a great idea! It's so easy! I just put a pork butt and one bottle of root beer in the crock pot, cook for 8 hours, shred with 2 forks, mix one bottle of the sauce of your choice and viola! I also have an additional bottle of sauce to put atop the sandwiches.

My other go-to recipe is Greek Meat Sauce...it's super yummy and yes, everyone does rave about this one too! ;) You can put it over any type of pasta but I usually do mostacioli (sp?).
2 onions chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
3 Tbs butter
1lb ground beef
1.5 teas salt
pepper
1 6oz can tomato paste
2 cups water
dash of cinnamon
dash of ground cloves

Saute onions and garlic in butter, add mean and brown, seasoning with salt and pepper. Blend tomato paste and water, add to mixture, bring to a boil. Add spices and simmer for 1 hour. Makes 4-6 servings.

For your group probably double it. It refrigerates and freezes very well. I usually use only 1-2 large onions and about half the water, but I like it thicker and less saucy. Adding the cinnamon and cloves really is what makes it delicious so don't be scared...it's awesome!

Other than that, pizza night, taco night or Chinese night are always easy crowd favorites too!

You could get them involved in the prep - cuts way down on complaints.

Set out a taco bar or make your own pizza station and plan sundaes and provide a few differant kinds of toppings.

Plan at least one crock pot meal so you guys arent chained to the house and go sight seeing.

I'll be glad to share the recipe if it sounds interesting to you.... just pm me.

Texas Brunch casserole.. ALWAYS requested when family visits.
It is a breakfast casserole, BUT, I HATE eggs so it is made with creamed corn and 1 egg. Layered dough using Bisquick, layer of sausage, layer of cheese, top layer of dough, sprinkle cheese on top and serve with jalapenos on the side.

City Chicken..... using pork loin
marinate pork loin cubes in buttermilk, put on small skewers, quick pan fry, serve with mashed potatoes, green veggie

Creamy chicken broccoli casserole with curry powder..
Very tasty and different.

Salmon baked in foil....
Salmon fillets, in foil pouch. Salmon is topped with chopped tomoatos, onion, garlic, touch of lemon juice and olice oil. Great flavors, serve with rice

I make my homemade marinara sauce and prepare manicotti or stuffed shellls.

I have some recipes from Barefoot Contessa and my favorite recipe book is EveryDay Italian with Giada DeLaurentis

Enjoy!
