My 3 week old son needs to have the piece of tissue that connects his tongue to the bottom of his mouth clipped. It is all the way at the front of his tongue and he can't stick his tongue out. The 2 doctors that my pediatrician recommended do not take my insurance. Does anyone have a good ENT in the lower Westchester area?

My daughter needed to ahve this done as well- we used Dr. Smiley with Breastfeeding Resources...she's not at ENT, but a pediatrician and she does it right in her office. She is WONDERFUL and takes most insurance plans. Only issue, she's in Stratford CT which is a bit of a hike from Westchester. I was SO nervous and worried when we had my daughter "clipped", but she was so kind and reassuring and the procedure was so fast! Good luck!

We've been very happy with ENT & Allergy associates, who have offices in several places in lower Westchester. We've used them only for adults, but have used Dr. Aryata (allergy) and Dr. Lawrence (ENT).

Hi J., What insurance do you have? Someone I work with had the same thing happen with her son. She lives in Norwalk, CT. I can find out what doctor she used and get back to you later tonight.

Hi J.. Sorry I don't have a ENT recommendation but are you sure you need it clipped right now? My son is now 10 months and at his first peds visit,at about 4 weeks old, the doc said that he had a short frenulum (that is what prevents a person from sticking out their tongues all the way) and that he may need to get it clipped but some children grow out if it. The doc recommended that I monitor his milk intake (I was breastfeeding and still am). The worry was that he wouldn't be able to drink bc of the "short tongue". But lo and behold my son had no problems drinking and I didn't have to have it cut. The doc said that it looks like he's outgrowing it. I'll probably get his frenulum reexamined in the future but as for now he's fine. Maybe this will happen with your son. Anything to avoid any unnecessary surgery at such a young age. Good luck.

I dn't know which doctors you have been referred too however I bring my child to Dr. David Merer in Ardsley. He is in the ENT Faculty Practice, LLP at 1055 Saw Mill River Road. There are several there - pediatric ENT's. My kid does wonderful w/ him.
