Im looking for a healthy cookbook that doesn't require a lot of time. I work all day and then have the kids sports and stuff and the easy throw in the oven stuff or spaghetti (although we do the wheat noodles) just doesn't seem that great for any of us. I would like to lose 20 lbs and I know that the majority of that can be done through my diet because right now its not the best. I think once I start to see a few lbs come off that will motivate the exercise part of me to do the rest :) My kids are pretty picky but they do eat chicken breast but i cant do chicken al the time. I just need a good cookbook that some of you like Ive tried to look at some but don't want to waste money on a crappy book.

What can I do next?

I got a great recipe book at weight watchers. It is called comfort classics. They also have one for the crockpot. Good luck

Eating Well magazine does a great job and I love this cookbook: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0881506877/ref=oss_product "Eating Well Healthy in a Hurry"

Every issue of Cooking Light also has a "Superfast" section.

I would say subscribe to Cooking Light magazine. I have found more healthy recipes there that my husband and son LOVE than from any other source. Also many are designed for busy cooks and only take 20-30 minutes to prepare. The recipes are easy to follow and everything I've ever made has turned out well. You can also download them online at cookinglight.com! good luck!

Another one to recommend Cooking Light. I've subscribed for years now and have yet to find a bad recipe. Every one has been a hit. They have many quick & easy recipes. I know they also compile their recipes periodically in cookbooks.

Also, if you like crock pot meals at all, Fix It and Forget It ... Lightly is a good cookbook. I've had good luck so far with their recipes.

I also like Cooking Light but I wanted to also recommend Rachael Ray's cookbooks. Her 30-minute recipes are great.

I also have been really happy with recipes from Eating Well magazine. I have the Eating Well in Season cookbook and I love it. There are quite a few quick recipes in there also that make creative use of different fruits and vegetables. I havent been unhappy with a recipe I have tried yet.

I am a huge fan of EatingWell. Their food is healthy using all-natural ingredients and I must cook from one of their 10 cookbooks I own or the magazine 3-5 times every week. 90% of the recipes are huge hits and they are fairly easy and quick. I also love their magazine which is published 6 times per year. I often get email deals from them for the mag($10 for 2 years, I think?) so email me with your email address if you'd like me to forward one.

My current favorite is EatingWell on a Budget and I've made at least 10 entrees from it. $13 on Amazon I think.

I also get Cooking Light and have picked up Clean Eating mags but don't like them as much. Also, I must have another 8-10 Weight Watchers cookbooks(I collect cookbooks) and am not thrilled with the amount of processed food in their recipes.

You should look into "Live the Life" www.kellyapproved.com The book provides meals for each week, with recipies and grocery lists. Some of the food you may have to modify a little for your kids but it's a great way to loose weight plus the main idea behind it is preparing the meals a head of time so you only have to "cook" once a week and then the rest of the week you are just pulling food out of the fridge or freezer.

I am an owner of Dream Dinners and I know you were just looking for recipies, but I think what we have would help you a lot! We are a place where our guests come in and put together about 6-12 recipes (that are kid friendly) once a month and then freeze them when they get home. Then it's only 20 minutes to cook them when you come home from work. We also list all the nutritionals for our recipes so you can count calories, fat, etc or just plug in the information for weight watcher's points. It will safe you a ton of time and money, and your family will eat very healthy food. Often people think this is an expensive option, but it really isn't. When you have to get all the ingredients for so many different meals, and then don't use up all of it, it becomes much more expensive. We buy in bulk, so we are able to save you money. Plus we do all the shopping and prep work for you so it only takes about 1 1/2 hours to do 12 meals. There are 4 Dream Dinners stores in the Denver area (I don't know where you live). So feel free to check us out or contact me directly at ____@____.com check out the menu's at dreamdinners.com Good luck!!
