Hello ladies. I am a bit new to this site. So bare with me. I have a 2 week old daughter and she is drinking 3 1/2 to 4 ozs of formula every 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I want to know if she is drinking to much formula for her age or is that about the right amount for her to be drinking? Ant suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have been through this before with my 22 mth old but my husband and I have totally forgot what we did almost 2 years ago. :)

What can I do next?

that's awesome that the baby is eating so well! our doctor told us at least 3 ozs every 2-3 hours when our daughter was litle. they also go through growth spurts so they will eat more occasionally too. in my opinion a full baby is a happy one!! babies also sleep better and longer when they are eating well also.
congrats on the newborn!

S.,
You can figure out if she is getting the right amount of formula by figuring she needs to be taking in about 2.5 ounces per pound of body weight. So figure her weight times 2.5..... and track the number of times she feeds times the amount. Is she somewhere in the ballpark?
If she is spitting up, this could account for her consuming more.... :)

Perfectly normal. In fact, around 3 weeks old is a baby's first growth spurt!! So that is probably a good reason why your daughter is eating so much. Also, just go with her needs (which by the way will be like a rollercoaster, up and down!). If you feed her 2oz and she still seems hungry, feed her another 2oz. If she seems hungry before the '2'hr time frame, feed her anyways. You baby knows no clock exepct for the one inside her!! Here is a link about when to expect the next growth spurt.

This site refers to a BF baby, but FF babies are just the same. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/growth-spurt.html

Good luck and congrats!!

That is normal. You are doing fine and you are responding to your childs hunger every 2-2.5 hrs. As she gets older she will go longer periods with out needing to eat and she will need more formula. Keep up the great work and congrats to your family!

Swettie pie like my mother will say if you were breast feeding her you never know i much milk a baby is taking so let your baby drink as much as she needs she is the only that know how hungry she is that is just my opinion
