Double Strollers

We currently have a double stroller, which I absolutely love. It's fit our needs up until now. My twin girls are starting to out grow it and I am looking for other options as far as strollers. The one we have now the seats are one in back, one in front. I was wondering if anyone has used the double stroller, the kind that has the seats side by side instead of stacked. What are some of the pros and cons? I still use my stroller alot for walks and for stores that do not already have carts built for two. Letting them walk in places like a department store just isn't an option. If not a stroller what have you tried?

What can I do next?

Have you tried the sit and stand stroller yet? I used it for my 2 youngest kids...one is almost 4 and the youngest is 2. I actually just got rid of it because I don't use it that often anymore. I absolutely loved it. I had a regular double stroller before and the 4 y/o always wanted to get up and down after a while. I never had a side by side double stroller, but from the sounds of it, going into a department store isn't really feasable(sp).

I used my Graco for my tiwns till they were 4. I just removed the trays so they could get in and out easier. It was a front back. The side by sides can be too wide for some stores and the kids can touch each other a lot and that can sometimes lead to fighting...

I also use single umbrella strollers for going places now, even though they are five, where I want them strapped in so I can keep them with me and safe. Or if they won't walk as much as I need them to at the pace I want.

I have a combi sbs and I love it. I have never used a tandem. Whatever stroller you get make sure it is less than 33 inches wide as that is the standard width of doorways.

Hi K.,

I have a Maclaren Twin Techno (Brangelina has the same one, LOL) and love it. I don't have twins, my kids are 10 months and 3 years old now, but it comes in really handy when i'm at the mall or want to get a good workout walk in (otherwise I just make my 3 year old walk). It fits through a single doorway fine, is easy to open (at least in my opinion), and it OK weight-wise. I went to a baby store in Villanova and tried all of the side-by-side strollers. They have a really good variety of high-quality double strollers there! Good luck choosing!

I have both types of strollers. One tandem and the other side by side. I'm not a big fan of the MacClaren side by side for a couple of reasons. It doesn't fit in the isles in the mall as easily and I find I am limited to where I can take it. Also the model we have doesn't have any snack trays. My boys are different ages and when they were little they were fine but the bigger they got the more they fought in it.

Don't get me wrong the side by side steers SOO much easier and I loved that. The one we have also folds up so compact that I loved that aspect when I had a small car.

HTH!

I had the side by side stoller. The one with three wheels. i loved my stroller. Then again I think with my twin boys I went threw 5 of them. LOL. The only cons that I had come across was that some stores don't have enought room. Then again that was Almost 4years ago. Side by Side are nice. Just make sure that your daughters have room and there is enough space for everything else that you need to take with you.

K.,

I have used the double stroller - side by side. I loved it! Some pros: both kids are in the 'front' so the one in the back can't harrass the one in the front. Both kids can always see what is going on. I never had to worry about the one in the back spilling things on the one in the front. I generally liked the looks of it better and the ease of attending to both kids without working around the other one. Since they are side by side you can tend to the needs of each child without bothering the other one.
Some cons: The front wheel on the one that I had did not turn easily. Afterwards, I realized that other brands were easier to maneuver than the one I had purchased. Some of the clothing stores do not allow enough room for the stroller to be pushed through. This wasn't a huge problem because it didn't happen all that much, but it did happen occassionally.

Good Luck!
