Does Anyone Know Where in Raleigh You Can Get the MMR Shot in 3 Separate Shots?

My son is turning a year this month and is supposed to get the MMR shot. I would like to break this shot up into three separate shots because of all the claims that it causes autism. While they say this can't be proven either way, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Does anyone know of a pediatrician's office in Raleigh, Morrisville, or Cary that I can go to get the MMR shot in 3 separate shots?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So after calling about all the doctors in town, I finally found a place that will do the MMR separate. None of the ped. offices seem to do them anymore. A place called Passport Health (http://www.passporthealthtrianglenc.com/) does them. I got my son's measles shot already and next month I will do his rubella shot.

FYI- the mercury that some claim causes autism is no longer used in the MMR vaccine.

You can request it from your regular pediatrician. It will probably be treated like a prescription & you will have to have it filled at the Pharmacy then pick it up & take it to your Dr to have it administered. It is unlikely that anyone has it on hand. You will have to pay for it.

If your Dr is unwilling to do this, I'd advise finding one that is more supportive. We are in N Raleigh & use Stepping Stones. I have found Dr Burke- Haynes to be supportive in non standard vaccine schedules.

Read the lable of the vaccine bottle before your Dr administers it. Take as much time as you need.
I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!

The big one you are looking for is Thimerosol. Aluminum is another culprit.

I have found the following book helpful:

Some pediatricians will have it, though I think most will not. I can suggest that you try the health department. I was able to get a separate vaccination at the one in Durham for my son who doesn't need the pertussis vaccine because he got it when he was 2 months old. Our pediatrician's office said that they would have to order it. Perhaps your regular doctor would order them for you and set up nurse only appointments for the shots. Not many doctors seem to give credit to parents concerns that multiple vaccines or vaccines in general have serious side effects. My oldest son had mild seizures following his first multiple vaccination, but none of the other 3 children had a reaction.

I believe you can go to DHHS beside Wake Med to get it done.

Thanks for asking this question. I too am interested in the responses that you get. I can't specifically answer your question but I would like to add this info to clarify the concerns involving the MMR vaccination. While vaccinations containing thimerosal or mercury are a great concern to parents (and should be), the MMR vaccination does not contain thimerosal. However, it does contain live viruses (a total of 3 different sets of viruses) and it is given to children when they are at the age when autism is likely to become evident. Since there seems to be evidence on both sides of the controversy mounting up and due to the fact that no one can say with absolute certainty that today's autistic children were NOT harmed by vaccines, I personally feel it is wise to divide the MMR into three separate single-dose vaccinations over a period of months rather than a single MMR shot. I, too, would rather be safe than sorry.
