Hi ladies. I am in search of a good ob/gyn. I am about two months pregnant. I had my dd back in wi and loved my ob/gyn. So I'm looking for some suggestions of drs. here. I would rather have a woman but will go to a man. I also need to find one that will take tenncare/bluecare. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Dr Kathleen Mitchell at Erlanger was my OB. I was high risk and she was really great through everything. She takes TennCare (99% sure about that)

Dr Patel (don't remember her first name) at Erlanger actually delivered my DD by c-section. She was also very nice.

The only one I would NOT recommend is Carol Adams at Erlanger. I had to see her a couple of times when I came in for emergencies. She always seemed snooty and talked down to me & my husband.

S.,

I have had all three of my children at Erlanger and they were delivered by Erlanger OB/GYN's. My second child was delivered by Donna Hobgood (she was also supposed to deliver my third, but I went into labor 5 weeks early and my daughter was delivered by Dr. Bolton, also in the W.I.S.H. group). Dr. Hobgood an older lady who is a doctor at Women's Institute of Specialized Health located at Erlanger East off of Gunbarrel Road. She is amazing. I would recommend her to anyone. She is very smart and really knows her stuff. Give them a call to see if they take Tenncare/Bluecare, their number is ###-###-#### (I know for a fact that they accept Medicare, so I would think that they accept Tenncare/Bluecare also). They also have several other younger women doctors, but from my experience, all of the doctors there are really good. Dr. Bolton (a man) who delivered my third really made me feel comfortable. If you want more info on the doctors office, you can research them on their website, www.wishdocs.com. Hope this helps and good luck!!! Email me if you have any additional questions, I would be happy to answer them. - C.

I also go to Donna Hobgood. I am 29 weeks pregnant and this is the first pregnancy I've seen her for, but so far I have felt very comfortable with her. She is not a very wordy doctor though, if you like someone who explains a lot, that is not her, unless you ask a lot of questions. She is quick and efficient and very good.

I don't have TennCare, but I have Healthy TN Babies (part of the new CoverTN program affiliated with TennCare), and the WISH group takes that. But...I was told they do not take regular TennCare--if you want to go to them I would definitely call their billing and insurance department though--the people in the office are not well-informed about insurance things I have found.

Another great thing about going to WISH is that you could deliver at Women's East on Gunbarrel instead having to go downtown. That was a big draw for me.

I go to Dr. Gary Mills. He is wonderful!! He delivered both my kids at Erlanger. He also has an office in Hixson. I do not know if he takes tenncare/bluecare.

I had a wonderful experience with Carol Adams at Beacon Health Alliance in Erlanger Medical Center Downtown. She is very matter-of-fact and to the point but very thorough and experienced. She oversaw my whole high-risk pregnancy and I had a healthy baby boy. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I too am 2 months pregnant. I am going to Galen Medical Group over on Gunbarrel (OB/GYN, 1651 Gunbarrel Road, Suite 201
Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421, ###-###-####)

I wanted to see Dr. Patricia McClellan, who is highly recommended, but she didn't have an opening until Feb. so I saw Dr. Howard Brown instead. My friend Julie had him for her two births, and I loved him! I decided to stay with him...he's super experienced and just a great doctor to talk with. I have heard that everyone in that practice is wonderful, so you can't really go wrong. I wish you the best! :)

I've only been here about 4 years.. but I worked for a few OB/GYNs.. unfortunately I wouldn't recommend any I worked for... but I now see Donna Hobgood as well. Very smart, straight shooting, down to earth lady. I have only used her for GYN issues,,,, no more babies in my crystal ball... haha..

Good luck!
