Diaper Rash - Tiffin,OH

Hello! My almost 2 year old has had a terrible rash… today is day 13.
This started with a runny-mucus-y # 2 which lasted about 9 days. (Nurse declared type of virus, but I am not so sure, she has had it one other time as well, and not sick in any other way.) It is much better now, but not entirely back to normal.

I have tried different things for her rash... Zinc oxide, baking in her bath, no diaper, cloth diaper, anti-fungal, hydrcortizone... (both advised by nurse) looking for any advice as to what to put on it and what may be going on?!
Any similar situations?
Thanks in advance!

Please think about calling the dr. I thought my daughter had bad diaper rash and it ended up being yeast infection. That needs prescription to clear up. But pinxav works the best for us!

My son gets diaper rashes, we always make sure that he is dry after using wipes and then we put Boudreaux's Butt Paste on his rash after every changing and in a couple of days it's pretty much healed. You might try some Aveeno baby oatmeal wash for her little bum and then apply the butt paste after she gets out of the bath. The oatmeal is great for rashes, there is also a cream. I would try the butt paste though that stuff is amazing. we use the organic one or all natural one which smells like bacon to me, but it works everytime.

i second the pinx av, it's awesome, followed by some powder. Or if you think it is fungal california baby diaper cream and lots of powder (because it is natural and cloth safe it wipes off much easier than normal rash cream, so the powder helps keep it on).

my son had the same thing a few months back. i got a great reccommendation from another mom she called crusting. i used PLENTY of butt paste, then corn starch podwer over that to form a "crust" seal. dont wip eit off after a pee, but do after poops, it gets less irritated by wipeys that way. i also used warm washclothes to wipe for a few days, instead of wipeys.

Yikes! Sounds a lot like my daughter when she was still in diapers. She was potty trained early purely out of self defense because she got such bad diaper rashes. My mother-in-law gave me this trick. It sounds funky but it worked & I don't know why. You need a cast iron skillet and she browned corn starch. Don't know why you couldn't use regular corn starch though but she "browned" it by cooking it over heat & stirring constantly. It worked for us. Good luck! I am sure its painful!

Have you tried Athlete Foot cream? That worked wonders for our little ones diaper rash. She went from oozing sores that would repel diaper cream to a clear bottom in two days. Our Ped. recommended it and it was shocking how well it works. We put on the athletes cream first then put the diaper rash cream over that.

Ok, first of all Call the doctor if this is day 13! Secondly here is my families perfect diaper rash treatment ... Mylanta (plain/original/no flavor) on a cotton ball directly on the effected area and put whatever over it, zinc cream, vaseline it is ONLY to keep the Mylanta from soaking into the diaper. I have had some near bloody rashes that I have applied this to and with in a day or two "Poof! All GONE" honestly you should see a diff with in a few diaper changes.

I just tried Triple Paste as recommended by some moms on here (my son had a nasty rash last week that wouldn't clear up even with the Dr's anti-fungal prescription and Cortaid) after about three uses it looked noticeably better. I also tried the Butt Paste and that seems to have helped too, but I used that after it had started clearing up. Seems like the Triple Paste stays on better! Give it a try!

Sounds like a yeast infection to me. Both my son and daughter get/got them every time they were teething, on antibiotics and sometimes they were just random. Your doctor can prescribe Nystatin for it - that's the only thing that works for my kids. Good luck!

California Baby Diaper cream! You can find it at Target! It's wonderful!!!!!! At night or if we are out and about I will mix it with hydrocortizone so that there is a nice barrier of wetness protection and the cream.
p.s lol not making fun of you, but "baking in her bath" that made me laugh. I know you meant baking soda in her bath.

I love pinx av.

This is the only thing that works on my kids. I can notice a difference each time I change a diaper. I swear by this stuff and always recommend it to any one who has a post about diaper rash.

What I am about to tell you will sound strange but it actually works and a friend who is a nurse told me about this and it really works. Go to your local Walmart (not sure where else it may be sold) and go to the pet department and purchase a container of Sergeant's Veterinary Balm. I used it on my boys when they had rashes and it cleared up literally overnight. Most of the Walmart sites don't show whether they have it or not...but I haven't had a problem finding it. Below is a website showing a pic so you know what it looks like...again....it really works! Please let me know if you try it and how it worked for you!

The most amazing thing to cure diaper rash is calendula oil. Weleda has a straight calendula oil, and California Baby has a lotion. I'd go with the oil if you can find locally quickly. Good luck.

It is probably a yeast infection based rash. When nothing works thats what it usually is. You need to buy yeast infections creams. Good Luck.
