Hi,
I'm looking for a detoxing plan I could do for a short time. I have IBS and the minute I don't eat "right" i have problems. Was wondering if anyone knows of any healthy detox methods, I prefer detoxing using natural products without taking pills or powders. Any suggestions?

I don't know of any specific detox plans but there is a book called Gut Solutions: Natural Solutions for Your Digestive Problems that I've recently started reading and am liking a lot. It does have an entire chapter in it about IBS but I haven't read it yet. The book is easy to read, good quality and has really good pictures in it. I think you'll get a lot out of it.

Hope you feel better soon.

My Hubby has those same problems... he tends toward the "Asian" or Chinese methods of detoxing, naturally.
He occasionally will 'fast' for a couple days... going according to direction, and he said it helps. He then slowly introduces 'solid' foods back into his system slowly. And, then tries to eat healthier/cleaner after that. But well, being a human, he doesn't always follow it strictly and amid cravings for stuff.

My Hubby doesn't take products for it... but just tries to control it via healthy eating. For him, he knows what triggers his ailments and what doesn't. So that is key. Oh, he also says that 'stress' affects it too, at least for him.

Also, ask your Doctor, or ask for recommendation for a Naturopath or Holistic Doctor or something.

the thing is, detoxing can help... but as soon as you re-toxify yourself, the IBS comes back. It's a vicious cycle...unless you know what triggers it and what will not. Main thing is to stay consistent... thereby 'healing' your body and hopefully your condition will stabilize or not return as badly.

You can also go to your natural food store, and they have Homeopathic 'tabs' for all kinds of ailments... maybe try that. It's natural and for some people it really helps. Ask the store clerks to help you and describe your problem to them... see what they recommend.

Good luck and take care,
Susan

have you considered green smoothies? a couple of websites exist with lots of info about it. basically you use a high-powered blender and liquefy 40% dark green leafy veggies, 60% fruit, and 2 cups water: e.g., about a lb of kale, collards, etc, and a lb of apples per day. it's pretty amazing how well you can feel increasing your greens intake. good luck!
