Day Care Help... Special Needs Especially

I have so many questions because I'm new at this. Just as background, my mom has watched my son since he was born, while my husband and I worked. When she first signed on for this my husband had 2 days off during the week so she only had to watch him 3 days. Then he got a new job and only got one weekday off. Now he's transferred to a location with shorter hours and he's only getting Sundays off. I NEED to get my mom a day off!!! The only options right now are my husband trying to get back to another store with a weekday off (he's going to try) or find a day care that will take my son one day a week. So my questions...

#1 - How does anyone afford day care??? Everything I see is SO expensive. I don't even know if I can afford one day a week.
#2 - My son is 4 and not potty trained because he is developmentally delayed. This is making my search a little complicated. Does anyone know a daycare that would be okay with this?
#3 - How does this work with school? My son goes to school in one town, but the bus picks him up in another town. I'm guessing I need to find a daycare in either one of those towns or one that will be able to drive him to school. Does anyone know anything about how this works?

Thanks mamas. I'm sorry for all the questions, but I am a nervous wreck. My mom is the only one that has ever watched him.

What can I do next?

While it may be a hike from Riverside, the Easter Seals in Villa Park has an all-day day-care, The Lily Garden. They specialize in special needs ... but it is not just a special needs day care. Here is their website: http://dfvr.easterseals.com/site/PageServer?pagename=ILDU...

Our DD goes to an at home daycare PT when my DH has work. She charges us $35/day. She does not take kids to school that are far away...most of her kids come from the neighborhood, but not my DD. So, next year we'll have to go somewhere else. Could your DS get into a home daycare that is close to your school and the bus would pick him up? There may be some help you can get from the school or bussing company as to how far away from your house they would drive to. I wish you the best.

I know that the schools I work at will transport the kids to a day-care or home within their district bussing routes/boudaries...It may be helpful to call the bussing company or school administration and ask. They ususally have pretty good info. I'm guessing he's in a school district program?
