Cute or Cheesy - Kid's Photos

I am taking my two children (ages 4 and 6) to get professional photos done tomorrow. The photographer does this out of her home. She actually came to my daughter's VPK and did the school pictures. I was so happy with those that I called her to do pictures of both kids. She actually does have different dress-up outfits for the kids to wear. She also said to bring a couple of outfits for each child in case I didn't like what she had.

I will bring a standard "nice" outfit. However, try this one for size. I bought some Halloween costumes on clearance today. One for my son is a "old-fashioned gangster" in a black/white pinstriped suit. My daughter has a black fringed 20's flapper dress costume. Do you think it would be cheesy to have them photographed together in those outfits?

What can I do next?

Cute cute cute. I spent a fortune at old town in florida at one of those old time black and white photo shops getting my kids done. we have several different themes. one is the boys in the old west style clothing one is the sheriff one is the robber. another year they are dressed in 20's gangster stuff with my daughter in the flapper dress. the boys are holding tommy guns. they look like they are holding up a speak easy. the last set we had done was a whole family photo there are about 15 of us dressed in civil war era clothing. half in blue and half in the grey. its a great photo. we have them on teh walls going up the stairs. I say go for it.

One of my favorite pictures I have is one of my daughter in her first Halloween outfit (an angel). It came out beautiful. Pictures with pets are also good. Or wearing their parents clothes.

Cheesy. Kids are adorable and cute to begin with. They don't need props and costumes. Stick with real clothes and let their natural cuteness shine through.

Cute, boring normal clothes are fine, but why not have fun while they still let you? Once they're older, we'll be lucky to get pictures of them at all LOL.

I know a lot of people who take their kids for portraits in their Halloween costume. My husband and I had portraits done in pioneer costumes at a fair many years ago, and it was one of my favourites. Sure it is cheesy, but it is also cute. Why not do it? You probably have plenty of pictures and portraits of them in regular clothes! They will also have the memory of the time they got to dress up in fun costumes to get their portraits done.

I was all set to respond cheesy, but I like that they'd both be in costumes. Sounds cute.

You'll all have a good time looking at those in the future. Do have some done in regular clothes, too. Kids grow up so fast, pictures are precious to have. Have fun!

Go for it! Have fun...if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. So what? Blow up the other ones with matching jeans and white t's or whatever.

I say go for it. It sounds beyond adorable to me :) What's the worst that could happen? If you don't like the picture you don't buy it, no biggie. However if you don't do it because someone told you it's cheesy then you may regret not doing it.

Their only this little for a short time. Take advantage of every photo op you have.

Peace and Blessings,
T. B
