I have a 14 month old who (Praise God) has slept through the night pretty much since bringing him home from the hospital. Now, though, he will wake up in the middle of the night crying (sometimes blood curdling screams) because his diaper is soaked. We change his diaper and stick him back in bed, and he's fine. We haven't changed anything that he's doing (except now he likes to gulp bath water, which we can't stop). Has anyone else encountered this problem? I do give him a little milk before going to bed just as I always had. I really think he needs that milk. Since he's at his school during the day, he doesn't get much milk except at lunch, and I know he needs a certain amount.
We just don't know why he's all of a sudden doing this.
Just to add. . . He's not soaking through. He just doesn't like being wet.
This may sound silly, but try going up a size in diapers, and put them on so that the bulk of the diaper is in the front. Maybe that will get him through the night. This is in addition to what the other mommies may suggest about cutting off any fluid an hour before bedtime. I know it is very young, but anytime they are frustrated with a wet/dirty diaper, potty training is easier. Just something to think about...
We use Huggies Overnights too and they work great for us. My daughter gulps bath water too and we can't stop it either. We also give her milk before bed...I agree that they need it and it helps her fall asleep. Sbe was soaking through a regular diaper so we tried Huggies OVernights and they have saved us...you can find the smallest size (size 3) at Babies R Us...I haven't found them anywhere else.
I'd swear by the Good Nights, too!

Just an idea but you may want to try Huggies Overnights-they do cost a little more but in our opinion they are definately worth it. We only use them at night or if we are on long trips but they work really well for our little man(17 mos.)
