Crib Tent's...Do They Work? Are They Any Good?

We used a crib tent with both of my boys. My oldest moved out of his crib at 2.5 years old and the crib tent kept him in his crib the whole time. He climbed out at 9 months, so that is when we bought it. It was great. My younger one just recently figured out how to open it, but until then it was wonderful. He figured it out at about 2.5 years old. The crib tents are nice because you know they are safe in their crib and won't hurt themselves getting out. I think it is a must for any child in a crib.

WE LOVE OUR CRIB TENT!

When our 2 year old son started climbing out we got the Cozy Tots Crib Tent online from Walmart for 42.00, it shipped in a day! It's the one without the mesh sides - IT'S AWESOME!!! At first my MIL was skeptical but now she thinks it's a great idea..I've managed to change her perception on a few things over the years- like why my kids stay rearfacing until 33 pounds, why juice is NOT a great idea all day long, why whole wheat bread is good for you!!!

Our son is now 2 1/2, still loves his tent...he even zips it shut, we just make sure the zipper pull is on the outside so he can't open it...it is very sturdy and secure and does a great job!

I'm not a fan of moving my kids out of the crib early...our daughter was happy in her crib until 3 1/2...and our little guy is safe and secure in his tent!

How about moving him to a big boy bed? We moved my son at 20 months and he did fine. Just put a gate up on his bedroom door and childproof his room.

My now 3 year old twins boys were in them until they were almost 3, and my 23 month old daughter has been in hers since June. I wish I still had my twins in theirs, as soon as I switch them to twin beds they don not sleep in there beds anymore! I say use it for as long as you can! Good Luck,

I've never used one myself, but I have a friend who has a 19 month old and she uses it to keep him from climbing out of his crib. She says it works great.

My daughter climbed out of her crib when she was about 17 months old and we put a tent on her crib right after that and it was absolutely awesome! She didn't have a problem with it - like we thought she might. And when she got older, she would even help us zip it up before she went to sleep. It started losing its allure when she was about 2-1/2 and could figure out how to get open it and therefore climb out of her crib. We then moved her to a big girl bed. I know a lot of people don't like crib tents, but ours was a hand-me-down from two of my girlfriends and they loved them ~ as did I.

We used a crib tent with all 3 kids, but only when they were very litte (before they could really move on their own) as a way to keep our cat out. They may not all be the same, but the one we had would NOT have been a good solution for trying to keep an adventurous toddler in. You are right that once they start climbing, they don't stop. Your new challenge will be how to keep him safe!
