I have been fighting bronchial-pneumonia, and a sinus infection since last week. I started Azithormyacin on Monday...My throat is still raw and I am still coughing very violently. I drink TONS of water 50oz or more daily, hot tea with ginger and honey, I have tried salt water gargling, a couple cough drops and the vicks....Now I have to go to class tomorrow night and sit quietly for 3 hours!!! At bedtime I found a great suppresent to help me sleep and of course the humidifier, but of course I cant sleep thru class. Would love to hear what other things have worked for all you great Moms. Please.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I tried many of the suggestions and did not have much luck...Dr said it was just me and my normal, deep cough! and luckily it has gotten better! Hot tea/water steeped with fresh ginger really helped the sore throat. I really feel for any sick Moms out there...It had been 4 years since I had been sick with any kind of virus, infection etc!

Hope you feel better soon, try plain yogurt with active cultures for the sore throat. It was the only thing that helped when I got the flu and had a horrible sore throat. I would try cough drops for the class time and dysym (spelling?) makes a 12 hour cough supressant that works great. Hope this helps.

Did they give you an inhaler with any steroid medication? Sounds like you need it. I would call your Dr and ask about getting that. Esp with Bronchial pneumonia. My son has that very bad and my daughter did once also- and they got steroid in halers to help open the airway- thats what the violent cough probably is- a spasm in your airway. I am NO doctor but I would recommend you ask about this. Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like you're open to safe herbs as well, which is great! I'd try to track down some chickweed fresh tincture. This works wonders for pulmonary/upper-respiratory ailments and is absolutely safe.

Try delsym. It's a 12 hour cough suppresant and works pretty good. It's a little pricey, but definitely worth it. I hope you get better soon!
