Marsha,
My friend, Andrea, and I just did this for another friend's home. we're going back to help organize everything from closets to cabinets. #1 you're more than half way there by admitting that there is a need. #2 if you are not in a hurry to see it happen then go through your closet and get rid of everything you KNOW you won't wear again. #3 take the remaining clothes and turn your hangers around backwards - so the hook hangs from the back to the front. #4 mark the date on the calendar. #5 as you use your clothes hang them back the way you would normally hang them. #5 at the end of the season - or in one years time - remove all the clothes that are still hanging backwards. #6 within this year as you add new clothes, if you don't wear them right away hang them backwards with the rest of your wardrobe. #7 if you buy and wear a new item right away, then replace it with one item that is still hanging backwards.

At the end of the season - or on year - which ever time frame you choose to use, you will be surprised how many clothes you don't use that are just cluttering your closet.

Note: If you have a guest room closet that isn't being used then sweaters, sweatshirts, and other folded clothes can be temporarily stored in this location and only brought back into your room IF/When you wear them. If not then apply the same principle by putting them in the drawer upside down. If they're still upside down at the end of your season then they go to a consignment shop, garage sale, or donated.

Maybe this will help so you can spend your money on new clothes instead of getting rid of old ones! :) Suzi

What area do you live in? I'm not a professional, but I have helped friends with organizing their closets/pantries/homeschool rooms/homes. I don't have a job right now and could help you with this if you don't live too far away.

I would love it if it could be reciprocal - I have some areas I'm "stuck" in also.
