Hello, Moms!! What is considered appropriate for a Christmas gift for my childrens Mother's Day Out teachers? They attend two days a week. I was looking at getting them a Barnes and Noble or a Starbucks gift card but didn't know for how much.

What can I do next?

I give either $10 gift cards to someplace I know they would shop or I bake homemade goodies or give a goodie basket with homemade gourmet stuff for them to bake.

I dont do trinkets, nick-knacks or anything like that. Being a former MDO teacher I know that you get so much of that stuff and where do you put it all year after year?

I would much rather give them something that they can put to good use and if you want to include something for your child to be remembered by, send a picture in the card. They will save it and it doesnt take up a lot of room :)

What about something personal, like a towel or blanket...

When I taught MDO, I received gift cards ranging in value from $5.00 - $10.00. All which were apprecitated. But also appreciated were homemade goodies (brownies, cookies, etc.)

You might also consider a gift certificate from hobby lobby or mardel's. Hobby lobby had some cute ones for teachers. I think $10 is appropriate (especially if your child has multiple teachers) i always had my child write a card for the teacher and then i added my thanks and holiday wishes. You could get a blockbuster certificate for $5 and a popcorn bucket and add some things you know she likes. Our mdo program has the teacher's fill out a "favorite" sheet at the beginning of the year and those are available in a book in the office to "browse through" and has some great ideas. I got a big hug from a teacher one year by giving her a basket of age-appropriate stickers (that i had picked up on clearance and accumulated).

I would do $10.00 for them since they are part-time but that's JMO. I know that they will probably appreciate whatever because it's like free money to spend on themselves and that is always appreciated. :) We always did homemade goodies and a small gift card for our MDO teachers but it's because we had all three of them in MDO and each of them had 2-3 teachers. Crazy but fun times. :)

This is my son's second year in a MDO program. Last year we gave his teacher a small ceramic wall plaque with a scripture on it and a card he drew a picture in (value $10) this year we are giving his teacher a wall calendar and a card he drew a picture in (value 10) I think any gift you pick will be appropriate. We also give the directors cards with a note from myself and a picture my son drew.

My kids made personalized bookmarks for peer and teacher gifts this year. For the 3 teachers (1 2nd grade and 2 MDO), I attached $10 1/2 Price Books cards (that's what's close to us and I figured the $ would go further). For Bible Study/gymnastics/etc. teachers, we did $5 cards.
Hope that helps.
