I am a mother of a 3yr. old, boy, and I currently have him enrolled with a daycare. I am having some hard times right now and I am looking for a sitter, nanny, or other daycare that may be cheaper but yet still good. I would like for him to still be able to play with other kids because I think that is very important. Please help! I am also looking for another job to make ends me for my family. Does anyone know of any? Thanks!

What can I do next?

You do not say what part of the city you are in, or how much you pay for daycare. As far as a cheaper center - try Windy City Kids downtown on Washington and DesPlaines. I know that the toddler room was $180 per week - and it got cheaper as the kids got older. Home daycares also tend to be cheaper, but I am not familiar with any.

Good Luck

I have also just cut down to part time, quitting entirely, due to the cost of childcare. I am 26 with 2 children. My daughter will be 3 in June and my son just turned 1. My husband and I do not have a huge apartment, but have plenty of space for our children to play safely. Unfortunately, I do not have my own car, but if you desire, I would gladly babysit in my home. I, too, appreciate child socialization and would like to have other children around without the added cost of day care. Please let me know if you are interested and we can discuss the matter further.

Good luck,

Hi A., You left out important details. Where in the city do you live? What can you afford to pay for childcare? and what types of jobs are you qualified for to make extra income. Look at the shared referral area of Mamasource under nannies and make some calls to find out if you are in the ballpark. Give the moms at least a zip code or area of the city, so moms in that area can help you out. I know that the neighborhood paper is a great resource for people who are interested in babysitting. I am in the same boat. I am currently looking for a sitter for my kids who drive. We have a car for her to use. If you know of anyone who is interested, we are paying $300/wk net(negotiable). The day ends at 4 and school holidays paid off days. Let me know if you know anyone or meet anyone while your looking and if you give me a few more details, I will see what/who I can find for you. Good luck for both our families. B.

Hello, A.. My name is L.. I am a stay at home mom in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. My son will be three in March. We could really benefit from a little extra income at this time, and I wanted to possibly offer my services to watch your son. Could you email me so we could discuss details: cost, times, etc.? Thank you.
