My 3 month loves to "sit" up. I was thinking about getting a bumbo seat but wasn't sure if it was worth the investment. I have heard mixed reviews on it and was wondering if anyone had one and if their baby enjoyed it?

What can I do next?

My son is 5 and 1/2 months now. He's been using his chair since he was 3 months and he LOVES it! One word of advice, they now make them with trays that attach. If you are shopping on ebay I would look for one with a tray so that you can put toys on it. Since the babies sit off the floor it is hard for them to reach toys set in front of them, so you need some sort of tray or table if you want them to play while sitting in the chair.

My baby loved it. If you child likes to sit up and isn't too chubby, it is worth it. It seems like skinny babies like it better than chubby babies. If your baby is skinny to average, I would get it.

If you know someone who has it, or a store where you can see it in person to try it out, that would be best.

I got one for my daughter but not until she was 5 months old.. so it was only useful for a few weeks. :(

I was just sort of annoyed because immediately after I bought mine there was some sort of 'recall' that wasn't really a recall. Everyone seemed to be freaked out that I was even using one. They really are ok... basically the company was just covering their butts. People were putting their babies in them and then leaving them sitting unattended... on a table or somewhere you shouldn't be leaving your kid. They now have a warning sticker telling you not to leave your kid unattended or set them on a high surface. (Duh!!!)

I personally thought the bumbo was great to help her when she was learing to eat. She could sit up so much better in her bumbo than her high chair. Plus the bumbo is easy to wipe clean.

Eventually she outgrew her bumbo not because she was physically too big... but rather because she became frustrated with her confinement. She wanted to reach for things and she couldn't while she was 'trapped' in her bumbo. If you can get your hands on one really soon you should get a few months of good use out of it.

Something that may be helpful for you immediately is the boppy. Before I got my bumbo I used my boppy... it was great! I could set my daughter on the floor and put the boppy around her. If she did tip over she had a nice soft landing. Plus when she got big enough to start playing with toys she could reach them easier.

Good luck!!

My baby loved it, and it was nice to have another place to put the baby, especially since you could move it wherever. That said, it's definitely something I would check for on eBay or your local thrift store first. They're easy to clean, and you can save a bit of money. The retail price is a little on the high side, in my opinion.

I bought a bumbo seat for my baby but I bought it a little too late. I think she was 6 months old and she started wanting to crawl out of it. I liked the bumbo seat. It has 3 placemats and a toy that hooks onto the tray. We used to sit it on top of the table to feed my daughter. I must say that I didnt use it a lot. My 3 yr old uses it as a booster to sit at our kitchen table!

Hi S.! My daughter is 9.5 months old and did not like the Bumpo at all. She loved to sit up at that age too, but she did not like to be constricted and it was a little constricting for her. My sister also bought a Bumpo for her baby at that age and her baby LOVED it for a couple of months, and then was over it. She is not going to have any more babies, so she thought it was not a good investment. I will have another baby sometime, and since all babies are different, I thought I would keep it to see if the next baby likes it. I'd say, if your baby can be happy for a couple of months for $40 (that is around what I paid for it), it is worth it. If your baby does not like it, I am sure someone else would buy it or you could give it to someone. Hope that helps!

Hi, My name is M.. I have 3 kids 5, 3, 8 months. My child LOVES the seat. He is now 8 months old and i started putting him in it at around 3 months also. For the same reason as you, he was always wanting to sit. It was great for when i was in the kitchen cooking and he could be in his seat just watching me. And having pets, there is hair on my floor all the time no matter how much i vaccume, its nice for him to off the floor. To this day, I still use it. I sometimes still put him in it to eat if i am doing things in the living room. I think it helps children with their muscles. He now, sits, crawles and walks around furnature. I would say it is soo worth the $$. But look on ebay, you may fin it much cheaper. Good luck

Hi S.,

In my opinion, the Bumbo seat is fantastic! Our daughter loved it, and it was a great way to keep her involved & occupied vs. playing around on her gym, rolling around on the floor, etc...She became large and in charge....ha-ha. In fact, her first solid food was introduced while in her Bumbo! I was able to get lots of stuff done while I played with her in it. There wasn't any worry about her safety, and she could sit up like a big girl! I've since bought it for many of my expecting friends. Just an opinion.....hope it helps.

Hi there,
I lOVED my bumbo and would highly reccomend it to you. It is like having another set of arms and your baby can sit right next to you. I used mine till he got out of it. I would say it is a great investment. You may want to check Ebay for deals on it. Otherwise look for them at yard sales. I got mine from ebay used but in good shape.

Oh and we also took our out to eat with us. Allot more sanitary then the high chairs!

My twins loved theirs. My singleton did not care for it.

The twins really benefited from it since they were 3 months premature. It helped them sit up and encouraged them to play in a seated position.

I do not think the optional tray is worth the expense.
