has anyone ever had a birthday party at a park and didn't reserve a pavilion they just did the first come first get regular tables, if so how do you go about doing that and making sure you have a table at the specific time you put on the invitations?
Pay the 20 bucks to rent the pavilion like everyone else usually does..if you don't, you run the risk of someone already reserving it..and then they will make you leave...doesn't cause for a good party, for you or the others you may put out.
The biggest problem with that is if somebody did reserve the pavilion, you are out of luck. We saw this happen this past weekend. A couple had reserved a pavilion, and somebody else did the first come first serve...the park ranger was called, and obviously the reservation won out. They do post the reservations on the pavillion, so be sure to check, and be flexible.
You should reserve a pavillion shelter if you are having the party on the weekend. I just had a b-day party for my girls at the park on Sunday, and ALL of the pavillions were reserved. I wouldn't risk inviting people to the party unless you have a pavillion reserved. Good luck!

I had my son's 3rd bday party at a public park where the pavillions were first come first serve...it was an 11am party, and we had to have someone arrive at about 6:45a.m. (I think the park opened at 7:30 or 8am) to get in line so we could get the pavillion we wanted. The party was fun, but I was stressed all the way up until the day of the party, and the morning of the party. And the poor friend of mine who had to sit and wait for 4 hours...
I don't think I would have a party in the park again unless I had a reserved pavillion. Hope this helps.
I never did this but I know of someone that went out at four in the morning and slept at the park to keep a spot.
It depends on how busy the park is generally. You can scope it out a couple of times before you make the plan. A friend of mine did it on a Friday evening instead of the weekend. We were the only ones there,and it worked out well. Then the party was done and everyone was free the rest of the weekend. The only drawback is most people will be hungry at 6 on Friday evening. They brought chips and subs and it helped mellow out the sugar buzz of the cupcakes.
I had my daughter's 2nd birthday at a park on a Saturday and the party was from 2-5pm. I would recommend reserving a pavillion through Parks & Recreation Dept. You pay a rental fee and you have it all day. It's one
less thing to have to worry about.
We had a few party's at the park. It's easy clean and fun for the kids. But we had to get there early to get our tables. We grilled hot dogs, had baked beans and chips/pickles. The kids loved it. Juice boxes too. We also ordered $5 pizza from Little Caesar's for another party. Then had cupcakes for easy clean up. Good luck with your party. Oh yeah we had pinita's too!
We used to do this all the time for our kids at Boyd Hill (they don't take reservations). We made sure to pick a day when there were no festivals and went an hour early to set up and snag the tables we wanted. We never had a problem.
We did it once, but we were there very early to make sure we got a table...a bit stressful, but it worked out for us. Good luck!
We just attended a birthday party at the local park, She called me last minute to let us know the park of their choice was taken, and we all met at another park. I would sugest if its a busy place on a sat, take the table early.
We had my daughter's first 4 parties at Lettuce Lake Park in Tampa. I sent my husband with a cooler and couple other party things up to the park at opening time. He got a table and put our stuff on it and pretty much stayed there until I showed up to help set up. He'd call me with the location and we'd put a couple of direction signs up too. We always scheduled those parties for the morning anyway, it's cooler and less crowded.
