Hello mamas, going new car shopping this weekend. Do you love your family car or SUV? We are active family of four living in fl. Have a fabulous weekend!

No mini van, bit too big :) Ford Escape and BMW X5 are our two picks.

What can I do next?

I love my honda oddessey minivan. I have 2 in car seats and one with out. It so easy for me to get all the kids in!
I refused to look at minivans really wanted a pilot, but then i agreed and i wanted it on the spot. Made so much more sense for strapping babies in.
The back seat completly folds down and we really enjoyed sitting back there on the 4th of july watching fireworks.
If i only had 2 kids i probably would have gotten the pilot.

Absolutely love our Honda Odyssey. Super minivan, extremely low maintenance. Best vehicle I've ever owned. We can haul a lot but it still gets decent gas mileage. Drives like a car.

My next car will either another mini van or something like a Suburban or Expedition....

I am a family of 4 as well and we take our kids friends places with us...so like it sounds we are like you and active - baseball, soccer, la crosse, etc...so I would do a mini van or a Suburban!!

HAVE A BLAST!!

love my 4wd Explorer. We got the bigger v6 for better gas mileage....I avg about 22 highway. Don't miss the gas guzzling v8 at all. The towing package is perfect for our small boat & utility trailer. (+we have my husband's truck for anything bigger.)

Oh, yeah....we had to have 4wd to get out across the river bank! Going without is not an option for us....

& with those fold-down seats, I can actually haul our 2 80lb dogs in their wire kennel!

We recently bought a used 2008 Expedition. It's the Eddie Baur Edition EL. It is really nice and very roomy. With it being the extended length one it has extra room in the back area for luggage, groceries, etc. We love it. The only negative is that the gas mileage isn't all that great. Ours has the overhead dvd system in it which has been a life savor for the kids and us! Good luck and have fun!!

I am not a minivan momma. I refuse! We are a family of 5 plus 2 dogs that go most everywhere with us and I loved my Chevy Silverado ext cab. Only thing is once my hubs took the tanoh (?spelling?) off getting groceries with all 3 kids was sometimes a bit crowded. Now that I am down to only 2 in booster seats-no car seats anymore ( and one will be leaving her booster behind in a few months) I have moved to an isuzu rodeo. Love it too. My husband has a crown victoria..which is a fullsize car and it is great too. LOVE the trunk. With a family of 4 I would stick with a car- better gas mileage -no need for 4 wheel drive in FL- plenty of room etc.

Love our Chevy Tahoe with the 3rd row! Very roomy! I have an 8 yr old and 2 1/2 year old so we like the extra space when we need to fit more. I used to own an Eddie Bauer expedition a few years back and really liked it too. My inlaws owned a GMC Acadia for the last 3 years and it was extremely nice. They have racked up the miles from travel so traded that in last week and just bought the new Hyundai Santa Fe. My MIL loves it.

I LOVED my 1997 Subaru Legacy wagon, but after I got rearended three times (by people yakking on cell phones) and the insurance company totaled the car, I gave it to my son's friend. He's still driving around in it, with the back hatch tied shut and the front bumper all crumpled, and over 200,000 miles on it. I tried really hard to find a Subaru Outback or Forester to replace it, but I couldn't afford a new one, and I just couldn't find a used one at a decent price. Once they buy one, people just don't want to let go of them. I am now driving a Toyota Highlander, which eats way too much gas, and feels slightly unstable when I make a quick turn. Gonna find another Subaru ASAP!

Loved my Chevy Tahoe w/the xtra row. We are a family of 4 with 2 1/2 yr old & a 6 1/2 yr old. Now w/the gas prices we downsized & decided to get something w/better gas mileage & got the Chevy Equinox & it is absolutely too small for our family & other details that really make me regret getting it aside from the fact it's a big difference/adjustment from the Tahoe. Good luck w/your car shopping! : )

I love my SUV. It isn't a huge one (xterra), but it has lots of cargo space for karate gear (2 kids doing this) AND groceries all at once. And for trips everything fits easily in the back. We even pull the retractable cover over the luggage and throw the jackets/pillows/blankets over the top and as needed throughout the trip (in winter weather especially) everything is easily accessible, but no one has to sit on top of any of it.

And living rurally, where everywhere we go we need to hop on interstate 95 for at least 10 miles, it is nice to be in something that doesn't get blown around by the semi-trucks that are all over the interstate.
It is so much easier to drive (to me) than my husband's mazda 3. His car is fun, but I am more comfortable being able to SEE better. :)

We also live 20 minutes from the beach, and it is sweet to be able to rinse off the kids' boogie boards and throw them into the back still wet, along with the beach chairs, the cooler and whatever else...sometimes the dog. :)
