I'm helping a friend look for the BEST baby sling. What experience or feedback do you have on any favorites? I'm trying to find out if one stands out SUPREMELY above the others.

Thank you!

I did quite a bit of research before buying and got Hotslings,

They come in different sizes, which eliminates a lot of the problems resulting from one-size-fits-all slings. And, they're very helpful if you're still unsure of sizing want to call or email them directly. Good luck!!

Well, there is no one BEST baby carrier; each one has it's pros and cons, so it depends on what you want to use it for. Slings are great for their versatility, pouches are great for ease of use, mei teis are fabulous for long term comfort and back carries. I have a Kozy (mentioned below) and I adore it - don't know how I could live without it. A sling is somewhat easier to use with a newborn, as are wraparound carriers such as the Hug-a-bub. Are you familiar with this site?
There is excellent info on there on different types of carriers and how to choose, as well as reviews on specific carriers.

Since someone else mentioned it, I have to say something about the Baby Bjorn and similar carriers. They way they are designed causes most of the baby's weight to be carried between their legs, and there is some concern that this can cause problems with spinal compression and proper hip development. It's probably not a big deal if you don't plan on using it much, but otherwise it might be an issues.

I like a fabric wrap like the moby wrap. You could also try the over the shoulder baby holder if you want a sling that also works great for a toddler hip carry!

I also have an ergo which is a great compact back style carrier.

I tried almost everything and finally got a baby Bijorn. It is not a sling but a front carrier and the baby can either face toward you or away when they get older. It was very user friendly and my son was very comfortable unlike other things I tried.

I LOVE the pouch sling I got at !!!No rings or extra fabric hanging off! This was the best sling for my daughter from birth until she was 9-10 months old. After that she got a bit heavier and I got a mei tai from
Janet at will even talk to you on the phone and help you figure out the type of sling that is best for each person. Good luck!
