Hello all Mommies,
anyone have advice on dealing with baby acne/heat rash looking bumps. My baby girl is 1mo and has these heat rash looking bumps all over her face, and upper back. The pediatrician told me it was due to my hormones and breastfeeding her. He said leave it alone....wait it out. But, its been there for almost 2wks and as a new mommy I worry like crazy! Any advice Mommies?
Thank You!

Both my children suffered from baby acne. My pediatrician recommended aquaphor by euciren (spelling?). He recommended not using any soap or only using cetaphil cleanser. It's the mildest thing out there. It worked like a charm on my little ones very fair skin.

Mine both had it. Their little pores are still developing so it can take awhile to clear up, but it will. My youngest had a giant one that broken open when washing her face with a washcloth. Then I stressed that I'd accidentally scarred her for life (she recovered).

My baby had baby acne too and it drove me crazy! My pedia also told me to wait it out but I felt so bad when I saw the rashes on my daughter's face. A friend of mine recommended California Baby's Calendula cream and it worked! The acne was gone in a few days. You can buy the cream online or at Babies R Us. Good luck!

L.,
It's not serious, but if it can be taken care, I would.
It may be the baby and laundry products you are using. Here is a website where can learn more about that and see what information is availble on the products you are using: http://www.ewg.org
I recommend Shaklee's organic baby and laundry products. You can find them at http://www.shaklee.net/healthforlife
Ggood luck and God bless.

My babies acne was gone by 1 month... Maybe this is eczema?
Does it look like a pimple or a bump?

Both my sons has baby acne. My first son it went away by 6weeks old, my 2nd son it just went away about a week ago (he is 3 1/2 months old). I would not put anything on it because it will make it worse. My MD said it is horomones exiting their system.

leave it, eventually it will go away. Don't pick at it or use any type of baby oil or lotion on it , it'll just make it worse. Consult your Physician on what to use to dry it up. God Bless.

Whenever my girls had this, it always stemmed from certain foods. Lucky for me I had a great pediatrician who focused on nutrition and he says skin issues most often come from food. He made a list of possible culprits. If you are nursing, keep a food journal and see. Or, perhaps it's formula. For me, corn, soy and strawberries were the culprit. Once I cut these out of my diet, my girls were fine. The list my doctor gave me had soy, corn, citrus, wheat, dairy and strawberries. Good luck.

I had the same thing with both of my boys. aquafore(i know that sounds weird cause it's greasy, but it helps a little). Otherwise keep it clean, but don't overwash it, and that's about it. There isn't anything you can do. It sucks, i know, but it goes away I promise! I did tons of research and asked lots of doctors(my second son's was unbearable to look at). aquaphore or "do nothing" was all i heard. it took about a month+ for my second son to clear up and a few weeks for my first son.

My daughter had the same problem. My pediatrician told me the same thing at her 1 month check-up. It got a little better, but the acne was still there at her 2 month check-up. The pediatrician told me it wasn't that bad and not to worry. I did some researching on-line and read that a lot of breastfed babies get acne when the mother eats cow's milk products. I didn't have anything to lose so I cut all dairy out of my diet. Within a week her acne cleared up. Her face is blemish free. I know how you feel. Good luck!

My daughter is 3.5 mos old. She is the same all over her face and upper back. It went away around 3 mos. My doctor told me that this would happen. It felt like an eternity but alas, her skin is perfect. Your dr is right - it's the hormones from breastfeeding but keep it up...

My son also had acne all over his face when he was 1 month old. My pediatrician told me it was due to body heat and hormones. She did recommended applying aquaphor. We also changed his soap from J&J to Eucerin.
Rashes dissapeared by the time he was 2 months.

My daughter had the same thing. I worried too but there's not much you can do and the doctor said it's normal for babies to get rashes like that. My daughter is now 21 months old and still gets rashes that the doctor says are normal. Try not to worry!

My 5 week old has the same thing. My mom used mary kay night creme on my diaper rashes when I was a baby and said it did wonders. Last night she put some on him and tonight I've noticed it already looks better, so, that's what I'm using.

Same thing happened with my daughter. Seems like forever, but it will clear up shortly. Leave it alone!! Your doc is right.

Your Dr is right. They magically will go away in time and they are related to hormones. Keep them clean and dry, I always felt that dried breastmilk made my sons' facial skin look scaly and yucky. The bumps will probably come and go for another 4-6 weeks and then clear up.
