Avocado Throw Up

My 8 month old threw up some of his avocado yesterday on the carpet. I initially just used soap and water and thought that would have been okay. But now, I can still smell it. I have tried cleaning it again (with soap and water) and some type of neutralizer but still it's not working. Does anyone have any suggestions??

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
I have had the best luck with plain old peroxide. I buy this at the dollar store for 2 for $1. I have had great results. It seems to get everything out.

Resolve has a couple of products out, one for pet odors, that might be strong enough.

Avocado may be too hard to digest for an 8 month old???

Good luck.

C.,

Bissel carpet cleaner can get pretty much anything out. Get the kind that foams you leave it on and let it dry-then vacuum it up. Good luck~

sprinkle some baking soda and let it sit.
Then, sprinkle some vinegar.
It will bubble like crazy and hopefully bubble the stain out. (And the aroma)

Distilled Vinegar works wonders and doesn't have harmful chemicals. Once the area dries, sprinkle some Baking Soda on it and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then vacuum. :)

Try Nature's Miracle. It works on all kinds of carpet stains from pets to kids. It neutralizes the smell, too. Just make sure you follow the instructions on the bottle and thoroughly saturate the stain all the way to the carpet pad. It doesn't work instantly, but as the product begins to dry it will take the smell away with it.

"Mr. Max's Anti-Icky-Poo"! I know it's a funny name, but it really works! It gets rid of any organic odor, so I use it on everything. (It is actually used to clean up crime scenes, so if it can work on that kind of mess, it can handle the avacado puke) There is just one thing, make sure you put a fan near it after soaking, because it brings all the odors up out of the carpet so you need to air it out.

I had a throw up stain in my carpet that I tried a ton of things on-and then kinda gave up. For a year everytime I walked by it, I could smell that barf smell.

After it sat there an entire year-I went at it with white vinegar (diluted in water like 1 to 3 parts)and it completely took care of the smell and the stain.

I use Spot Shot for everything...the stuff is magic! I've cleaned up everything from food spills to pet mess to dirt. We also spilled red wine one time and didn't see that it went under the couch, so it was soaked in and dried up for a few weeks before we realized it. Spot Shot got the stain and the smell out. It's sold in the grocery store by all the carpet cleaners...blue with an orange lid.

Good luck!

Nature's Miracle-- you get it from the pet store. It gets out ALL bodily fluids and works on all sorts of stains. I had rotting milk in my car seats and just soaked it with that, and it was gone! get a gallon and keep it on hand!

My darling husband bought a used car that people had smoked in. I used Capture - a carpet cleaner. It seems perfect now. If it can get out cigarette smoke, it can probably take out everything else.
Good luck.

My husband owns his own carpet cleaning business, vinegar is bad if you have pets because they may mark over it, resolve has bleach in it and may bleach your carpet, soap leaves a residue and you will later have a brown spot there. The best would be nature’s miracle. It doesn’t damage carpet or have any other ill effects.

If you live in Fresno, I can give you a free sample of a Shaklee product that I have. I have an ad in Mamasource. My phone number is listed in my ad. So, if you are interested I'd would love for you to give it a try.

Two weeks ago, I forgot and shut the door where my liter box was located. Well, my poor cat could hold it now longer and peed on my bed. It went though all the blanket, matress pad and into my matress. Well, I quickly mixed up a stronger batch of the cleaner and it really got the smell of cat urine off my matress.

Good luck, B.
