Anyone Using the Magic Bullet?

Have any of you used the Magic Bullet to make baby food? My daughter is 13 months and I just bought the bullet - I'm trying to be more creative with her meals. I've been feeding her Gerber or organic jar foods and I really want to step it up for her and make more nutritious, fresh and varied meals. Any recipes or suggestions for using this device? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I saw a page with magic bullet recipes on it, once. I'm sorry, that I can't remember the name of the website. Maybe, do a Google search for "magic bullet recipes." Oh..and your daughter doesn't need purees anymore. She can have real food and feed herself. At this age, she can eat anything you eat...provided there isn't a ton of sodium and very fatty and fried.

Love, love, love my magic bullet. I made the stupid mistake of throwing it away when the little rubber sealing rings broke, not knowing you can buy those on the web separately! So I am awaiting my birthday next year because my SO said he would buy me another one. =)
I literally used it 1 or more times a day. The magic bullet isn't just for blending you can make things "chunky," like salsa or whatnot. I used to love to put 1/2 banana, some strawberries, and almonds in it to chop it up for a topping for yogurt or oatmeal. A lot of people thought I was nuts because you can just chop that stuff up but it is easier in the bullet, especially the hard items like nuts.
Also think about all the possibilities you have with making omelets or home made pasta sauces. I miss my magic bullet!

At 13 months you don't need to puree the foods anymore, she should be able to eat solid foods.

I did use the magic bullet. I simply puree'd whatever we were eating for my son...and that included the spices/seasonings.

I bought a similar blender to make baby food but never did. It makes great smoothies though. By 9 to 12 months both my babies liked finger food and not purees. I cooked things until soft and cut in bit size pieces. My kids (now 4 and 2) love chicken vegetable soup with ramen noodles in it.

I agree with the other moms that it probably isn't necessary to puree her food. But I would like to add that I have had a magic Bullet for many years and love it! I use mine mostly for morning smoothies.

I think there is a book, Super baby foods ??? that might have some recipies and stuff for you. but at that age you should be able to just boil or steam some carrots for her and give her the soft chunks that she can pick up in her hands. same with soft fruits etc.

Hi K.---I'm not sure if you have to make anything special for your daughter any longer. I used to take whatever we were having and then blend what was necessary to enable the kids to eat easily...depending on how many teeth, ability to swallow, etc. My favorite was when I made casseroles. I just smooshed everything up together and that was dinner or leftover for lunch, etc.

Of course, you'll have to be careful about seasonings and how strong they are for a while. Kids tastebuds work on overdrive compared to adults so they may or may not be able to eat everything that you eat. ALTHOUGH, your baby's food preferences will be, in large part, based on what you ate while you were pregnant. That bit of knowlege will be helpful when introducing new foods to babies. Some good tips on feeding babies can be found at www.askDrSears.com. I have the pleasure of working with and learning from the Dr. Sears in my wellness education business and his knowledge and advice is enlightening.

Good luck. We LOVE our bullet and use it often. We're on our second set of glasses. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Take care! D.
