Ok, I A. looking for a referral for a great wedding cake place in LA, preferably in the Downtown, West LA area. My brother is getting married in November (of this year!) to a great girl who lives in Turkey, so I A. trying to help her with the planning. She doesn't exactly have the venue yet (although we know it'll be downtown or west LA), but we've got the date, and I A. looking for a great wedding cake. I'm an OC gal, so not too familiar with the cool wedding vendors in LA. Thanks, ladies!

I also drive from OC to the bakery. All I hear is rave reviews from everyone when I have parties. My favorite thing there would be the tarts... Yummy go see for yourself. :)
I hear Hanson's is amazing. My experience with sweet lady jane is, although, they look beautiful, always very dry inside. Good luck, let us know what you end up doing!

Portos Bakery is THE BEST!! I have coordinated several weddings where they have done the cake. Very good and professional staff.

I second that to "Porto's Bakery" There are two location one in Burbank and Glendale. Beside the cake, since you are there to pick up the cake. You should get their famous cheese roll, they are to die for. Their guava strudels are alright, haven't tried their infamous potato balls yet probably will later on this year when I order something for my son birthday party this Oct. I sure wish they would open an establishment down here in OC soon. They will make a killing down here.
We got our cake from Rossmore Bakery in Long Beach, I think they have one in LA too. Cake was fantastic! And they have great selection and service!
One idea might be to contact some of the better hotels in the area and find out which vendor they use for wedding cakes. Good luck!
