An Early Ultrasound Showed No Embryo

Hi Friends,
So, I found out I am pregnant again! After my recent miscarriage, I was so relieved and very excited. But, when I went to my first OB appt., the dr could see a healthy gestational and yolk sac, but no embryo. Dear Lord. I was initially terrified. But the doctor had already done blood tests and my levels are raising as they would for a normal pregnancy. He scheduled me for a follow-up ultrasound - said it could be just too early to see an embryo, yet. What do you think? Have any of you experienced this? The waiting is so difficult - somedays I can convince myself that everything will be fine. And somedays I am so scared. My follow-up is tomorrow.

So What Happened?

Hi friends,
Guess what? My follow up ultrasound shows a healthy little bean with a fast little heartbeat! Wow. I am thrilled and anxious. Thank you so much for all of the continued support and a place to turn when it seems no one else understnads. Everyone - have a great day!

I wouldn't worry yet if I were you. The same
exact thing happened to me when I got pregnant and my daughter will be 2 in August. Good luck!

Hello,

Do not worry things will work out for the best. I had two friends who had a sac and not embryo. They said it was too early to see anything but when they went back the sac stopped growing and no embryo and levels also stopped.

However, I had another friend who levels were increasing and the same thing happened. They told her it was too early to see the baby and to come back, she did and finally they were able to see a perfect helath baby. Do not worry, stress will not help the matter.

Good Luck and I am sure the baby is fine.

Same thing happened to me twice. I have a very active 2 & 3 year old. With my 3 year old they couldn't see the embryo. I waited a few weeks and went ni again and they saw everything. With my 2 year old they told me I didn't even have a uterus - but they sent me home, had me drink a ton of water and brought me back in later that same day. Did a formal ultrasound and saw everything (it probably also helped that I went home and had a huge bm before the formal one).

When I was pregnant the first time at 5 months I started bleeding but had no huge loss or big clots. I went to the hospital and they said I was fine then went to OB a couple days later. No heart beat so diod an ultrasound and no baby. Pregnancy tests showed positive and then 2-3 weeks later did another ultrasound and saw a tiny dot like the tip of a sharpened pencil that was my baby only a new one. The other had dissolved into my body. It was quite a shock but I delivered the most beautiful baby boy at the end of that pregnancy. It may just be to soon.

Try your best to not worry, if this is a false pregnancy there's nothing you can do to "fix" it. Take care of your self - body and spirit, and if this one isn't viable, give your body time to heal before you try again.
I've had 4 miscarriages total - 3 last year and I'm finally 18 weeks pregnant with what looks like a healthy normal baby. It was a long hard road, after the 2nd miscarriage I didn't think I could try again, after the 3rd I thought I would lose my mind, and yet here we are arguing about names.
So, hang in there. hug your baby and hubby extra times - it helps. Keep us all posted good or bad news.

No advice, just sending hugs. Try really hard to focus on all your blessings because stressing isn't good for you, your daughter or you baby.

I did have that happen and ended up with what is called a blighted ovium. Conception but no baby. Sad to say I had a D & C. Almost a year after I was to have that baby-I had a beautiful baby girl who just turned 12 years old. To make sure there wasn't a baby, they checked my numbers every other day. They peaked and then started decreasing. If that is what's happening with you, treat it like a miscarriage and morn the lose. But, don't give up. When it's right-you'll get pregnant again and have another. I was devasted when it happened to me-but it all turned out in the end. I'm sending a great big hug your way and saying a prayer for you.

Sending hugs and lots of prayers. I hope this does not give you a false hope but, just sharing what happened to me and that it is possible. I went for an early internal ultrasound and they found the same thing you are discribing. My hormone levels were still going up so they sent me to a formal ultrasound thinking it may be eptopic. At the formal, they found my baby girl and she went on to develop normally and I had a healthy baby. I am praying for a good outcome for you.
