Am 32 Weeks Pregnant - Is This Too Late for a 3D Ultrasound?

I've heard that you can wait too long for the 3D ultrasound and all you see is a squished up face and body. How late is too late? Also, where is a good place to go in DFW area for the ultrasounds - if it isn't too late? We are bombarded with ads in the mail but want to make the best decision.

What can I do next?

I went at 31 weeks and got great pics! I have heard it is better to wait until you are farther along because that is when the baby starts to get more body fat. I went to Ultraview Imaging in Arlington and they were so nice. Here is the website: http://www.ultraviewimaging.com/

I hear that 27 weeks is optimal but it sounds like from other moms that you are still in the time frame. My doctors office does them so I will do mine their which I'm thrilled about but....my stenogropher (is that the right word?) is amazing and actually teaches the ultrasound class at El Centro college in Dallas. They do the 3D ultrasounds their as part of the class for about $30-$35 dollars. A friend of mine had hers done there. I called during my last pregnancy (I had a different OB who did not offer the 3D ultrasounds) but the class was only offered in the opposite semester which is now. Not sure if you get dvd's and extras like you would in one of the specialty places (you may only get still photos) but I'd call them and check before spending hundreds of dollars. Good luck.

After posting I looked at http://www.ultraviewimaging.com that Renee listed and they show examples from 25-37 weeks and the later ones actually look better since the baby seems more developed and filled out.

It is probably on the late end of the time frame for a good 3D ultrasound. You can still get one, but it may be hard for them to see the baby, as he/she is probably pretty squished up in there. I had mine done at a place in Grapevine called Stork View (something like that) there is guy named Leslie that was fun to have to the ultrasound.
