I was wondering if anyone has any suggests about getting acupuncture. I am thinking about trying it for pain relief and possibly for weight loss. Did it work for you? Did you have any problems afterwards?

I see an accupuncturist on a regular basis for depression and in general tune ups. Mine is also an herbalist and works her herb blends into your health routine. She has helped me so much. Just my general feeling of well being is so much better after a visit with her and stays better for weeks.
My fiance goes to her for weight loss and general health. He has lost some weight, if he would follow her rules he would lose so much more.
It is definetley worth trying, be it for weight loss, depression, body aches, migraines, bad periods or infertility. All of the things in your body are connected...if you ease one issue, several others ease too because they were just syptoms of the issue. I am so much more in touch with my body and mind after spending the last year and a half with her!
Try it, you will love it!

Acupuncture could work for weight loss, but unless you adopt a healthy nutrition and exercise plan for the rest of your life all the needles in the world won't make a bit of difference. Proper nutrition and exercise will definitely assist with the weight loss; acupuncture might help with the weight loss.

My husband used to do acupuncture. He suffered from sciatica years ago and would go for that. Unfortunately he got hurt at work and due to the unknown extent, the last acupuncture he tried hurt him more. But it did work for sciatica. There is a Chiropractor on Oak Park, south of Cermak that does acupuncture and he is very reasonable if you do not have insurance that offers discounts or covers. I cannot think of his name but half way down the block.

Go and try it with a reputable doctor. Mine has cured full-blown migraines inside of 15 minutes! It is a really great treatment if you're wired for it, not everyone gets results. If you're in Geneva or anywhere around there, I recommend Fox Chiropractic, Dr. DiIorio is excellent!

Hi S.,

I did a regular regimen of acupuncture a few years back, and it really helped. I did it mostly to alleviate headaches and muscle aches and to boost my immunity. I highly recommend it.

I had no adverse side effects, though one often feels tired (and possibly a bit sore) afterwards.

Best,
R.

I love my aupuncture treatments. Pain is one of the best things that acupuncture can help. I have tried the weightloss treatments but I did not keep up with it so I am not sure how well it works. You can get treated for more than one thing at a time. I leave my treatments refreshed and energized. I am even looking into being and acupuncturist myself! My lady is in Aurora Her name is Mavis Bates and her number is ###-###-####.

Hi S.,

I will be trying it next year for my Crohn's Disease. I'll keep you posted on my results. The only thing is to check with your insurance and see if they cover the cost. My insurance does not so I pay out of pocket and it is pretty pricey. $800 for 10 sessions.

I am a big fan of acupuncture. I have done it in the past for thyroid issues, knee pain as well as anxiety. I feel that it is beneficial but I also feel like you have to be open to the experience. There are not any side effects that I am aware of. The only thing that I could say would happen is nothing--that you may not get exactly what you were looking for. I am not a fan of traditional medicine so this is a great alternative to that. I am actually looking for a good acupuncturist here in the Great Lakes area. It would be nice if insurance covered it as well.

Acupuncture is great for pain relief! Actually, I know the name of the doctor that Diane N. recommended in Berwyn. His name is Dr. Rachum at 2223 South Oak Park Avenue, ###-###-####. He is very experienced in chiropractor and acupuncture and just like Diane N. said very reasonable in his fees if you do not have insurance.
