If anyone has experienced acid reflux, I'd love your advice. I've been burping quite often after every meal and feeling acid and the sensation of food stuck in my throat.
It started about a week ago and my throat burns a little bit.
I'm concerned that it is getting worse. I'd appreciate your advice.

So What Happened?

Thank you for your kind responses. After two weeks, the reflux is almost gone.
I've been using a teaspoon of raw honey as well as apple cider vinegar whenever I feel I may have a problem and eating only soft foods, no nuts, cookies etc.
Also, I take a teaspoon of honey only before bed which soothes.
I hope this information can help others.
Thanks, again,
K.

Hi K.,
I had acid reflux with my last pregnancy and it was awful! The doctor prescribed something pregnancy safe for me. There are also some wonderful over-the-counter remedies. My mom really likes the ranitidine product which is in Zantac. You might try the generic. Also, watch your diet. I could eat bananas in the morning, but if I ate them in the afternoon/evening, I was really burping and hurting. I also had my DH and kids load the dishwasher after supper. Try to sit up and not lean over alot after meals. I could clean the bathrooms in the mornings, but not in the afternoons. Try to eat dinner by 6:00 so that your food has plenty of time to digest before going to bed. If it doesn't get better with the over the counter meds, you might see your doctor. I had never had acid reflux before and thankfully, it went away after I gave birth. Hang in there! I hope it gets better!

Dear K.,

Hi, my 2 year old daughter suffers from extreme acid reflux. She was put on several medications that did not work until... she was given Axid, it was a miricle! You have to ask your doctor for it as it is a perscribed medication but it works very well. My daughter used to scream all day and night for months from the pain and discomfort of acid reflux and now she is pain free. She takes two doses a day, one in the morning and one at night. I would look into getting Axid, you have to be careful not to let your acid reflux go on for too long, my daughter suffered esophageal and stomach lining erosion as an infant until the doctors correctly diagnosed her.

Have you been diagnosed? It would be advisable to make sure you do not have something more complex going on. Reflux can cause serious problems if not treated properly.

I do know that caffiene, chocolate, garlic, and citrus are big 'no nos'....And you should not eat with 3 hours of going to bed.
