Chamomile, meadowsweet, fennel and ginger root are commonly recommended for GERD treatments. Try one at a time until you find what will work with your little boy. Great American Bulk Foods Store on 16th Street North in St Pete between Haines Road and Iris Street has all these in capsule form if he can swallow that or you can open the capsule and sprinkle it on his food. They have the freshest of all herbs and are an old time apothecary.

I would try the ginger first... you can serve it with honey and teriyaki sauce (glaze fish or chicken with it) and also mix it with oj and garlic cloves for another awesome flavor. If you are interested in recipes let me know. If you just want the capsules Great American is the place to go. (Dee Dee is my favorite person there!)

Hope this works!

My son had GERD since he was 3 weeks old. We tried the traditional treatments - medicine, diet changes, proping up the bed, etc. They would work for a short period, but then he would still have episodes of vomiting and spit-up. Finally, we decided to try a chiropractor. Within the first month, we saw a huge improvement. We have now been taking him for about 2 months and there are few signs of the reflux. He is a happy, non-vomiting/spit-up 10 month old baby. I would be happy to share more and refer you to our chiropractor if you email me.

Take care!

Well, my husband has very bad acid reflux and he tried apple cider vinegar and pickles (yes I know it sounds crazy) but it works. He used to wake up choking on the acid now he eats a few slice pickles a night and he is fine! No more waking up! Try it- it might work and if not he just may like the pickles! Hope it works!

I myself have the same problem. I chew DGL (Deglycrrhizinated Licorice,by Enzymatic. It comes sugarless or with sugar. I would reccomend the one with sugar. I think it is natural sugar but not sure. I use the one without sugar, but it really taste pretty bad. I doubt he would eat it. I purchase this at the vitamen discount store. One more thing, be sure to brush his teeth after chewwing to protect his teeth from cavities, hence the sugar. Hope this helps....

God Bless,

My son had reflux when he was born and would not sleep laying down. Unless he was in an upright position, he would cry. I actually talked to my chiropractor, who specializes in family care, and she suggested doing some adjustments on him. We went ahead and did that a few times and it was like we had a new baby. He was much happier and started sleeping on his back and we didn't have to give him medicine for it. So that might be an option for you to look into.

Don't lay him down after eating. You can prop the head of his bed up about six inches so he is sleeping on a slant. Also avoid foods with acid. No orange juice, tomatoes, oranges, etc.... Also don't give him drinks while eating. All of this will help.
