Hi. My son will be turning 2 in early December and am looking for ideas as to where we can have a party for about 40- 50 people, with some kids (all under 5). We don't have a lot of parking in our area, otherwise we'd have it at home and who knows what the weather will be like (it's been horrible the past 2 years). I'm in Itasca and really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks!

What can I do next?

J.,
Our boys are about the same age. My son also turns 2 in December. We live in a nice, but small condo, so I was having the birthday party dilemma, too. For guests under 5, a party at Gymboree looked fun. Also, there is My Gym - I'm not sure how close that is to you. Someone even recommended McDonalds - very reasonable price and the kids love it. I am a member of the Kohl's Children's Museum in Glenview & looked at that option. In the end, I actually decided that we'd just invite the grandparents and cousins over for cake. I'm going to try to save the "destination" parties until he is 5. Hopefully, by his 3rd birthday, we'll live in a bigger place and I can throw a party at home. Good luck!

I would recommend Jumps and Jiggles at the Elk Grove Park District. I rented the room next door for the party time with people - the kids played in the ball area and also took a ride on the indoor carousel. Lots of fun.

Hi, J.!
Try a music and imagination party it gets the adults involved. Record a bunch of your sons favorite songs including marches, sleepy songs, etc and have everyone participate. You can pass out tamoborines or bells as favors and have everyone march and sing. There are also lots of party ideas at ForBrideandBaby.com, but this was one of my favorites. I did it for my kids a bunch of times.

I really love recreating a home party at a Park District gym or multi-purpose room! There's always a lot of room and they do the cleanup! Probably all you need to do is order pizza, bring drinks and the cake and find some super two year party goods at http://www.birthdaypartykidz.com/birthday-party-supplies/...!

Churches, temples and other centers also will rent rooms, especially in this economy!
