Instead of cutting out stuff I just made it a point to eat a minimum of 5 servings of veggies a day. By adding the veggies, which are naturally lower in calories, it left less room for breads, sweets, etc. The weight is coming off slowly but surly.

I'll tell you what LA Weightloss told me years ago.
When we want to drop a few lbs, we start eating less and initially it works for a little while.
And then it stops working and we can NOT seem to get anymore weight to drop off.
This is because many dieters cut their calories too abruptly and throw their metabolism into famine mode.
Your body thinks you are starving, so it burns calories as slowly as possible and tries to stop you from losing weight.
So what do we do about this?
Continue eating carefully but slightly up your protein intake.
Your body will no longer think you are starving, and your increased metabolism will help burn more calories, and the weight will slowly drop off.
You have to be patient and consistent.
Losing a pound or two a week is really a good rate for weight loss although we all wish we could drop it faster.

As for the sinus infection, try rinsing your sinuses with warm saline using a neti pot.
It really helps me when I'm stuffed up.

Morning
There are a lot of good suggestions already.
The infection might not be true- the saline wash is good. They also might have given the wrong one- so you might check back in. I work in medicine as well as being a wellness coach.
Your weight loss:
Shoot for 1200 net calories a day.
At 5'4" it makes losing weight fast a bit more difficult as you're only able to cut net calories 300 /day rather than 500 like people with more stature.
75 gm/ protein per day
lots of water- it's summer so 100 oz min.
5 servings of colorful fruits and veggies
ONE and only one serving of starchy white flour type foods- open face sandwiches/burgers. corn on the cob is a starch too. Beer is a starch.
If you cut that back to one- your inches will start to melt- it's amazing.
Stick with good carbs and when you do eat the starch- make certain its high grain so you can have a bit more

You might be burning more net calories so you're under that 1100 -1200 per day area with exercise. So on those days- watch and you might have to eat more. If you get below more than one day in a row- your body will fight you and actually store fat and calories- thinking it's in starvation mode.

Watch you measures- not just weight.
You might be gaining muscle weighing more
If you measure extremities and middle - you'll be able to see 'how' you lose.
Don't forget your ideal shape is what it is.
It's about healthy weight and finding your best shape for you.

overall-- keep at it.
its a lifestyle and the first thing you'll want to do is tackle that sinus issue.
When you're not at your best - your body won't want to lose weight too- it's already stressed.

Garlic is a natural antibiotic. cutting all yeast, yeast extract and MSG from my diet cut out my sinus infections, I was having them every 4-5 weeks. Read ingredients carefully!
Cutting artificial sweetners, chemicals, high fructose corn syrup from your diet will help you lose weight as well.

If antibiotics aren't working it might not be an infection. It could be chronic allergy. Have you tried using a sterile saline solution for nasal irrigation? Have you been tested for allergy?
Also, if you are going to try to lose weight (it took me time but I finally got from a 12 to a 4 back where I belong) you have to make sure that you aren't exercising at cardio level all the time and are instead at fat burning level. Cardio level is 80% and fat burning level is 60%. You cancalculate your target level based on age and weight. Also, once I warm up, I work out my fat burning time in bursts. 4 minutes regular pace, 2 minutes fast as you can pace, then 4 minutes regular and back to 2 really fast. Do this for the full 20 to 30 min of your fat burn routine. Next, don't cool down but go straight to your weights and start doing your weight lifting or resistance training. You can't burn fat until you build muscle. Only after your resistance or weight lifting should you cool down.
Good for you for being smart enough to take measurements to see if you loose inches! When I first started I was loosing no weight, but because my neighbor told me to measure myself in inches I could see the difference in the tape measure.

you need to do a neddy pot every day twice. It helped my son out a lot. Make sure you don't use tap water unless you boil it first.

If you want to *lose* weight (so your clothes will be too *loose*), I think you should cut back on carbs, and up your fruits, veggies, and protein. For exercise, do something completely different from what you have been doing, to challenge your body. Also, make sure you are building muscle.

For the sinus infection, I would also recommend a neti pot.

Morning
It wasn't until I began Spin classes that my weight budged... I was doing aerobics/Zumba and although I was getting a good cardio workout, the pounds/inches were still hanging on.. Since doing about 10 spin classes, I've already dropped 3 to 5 lbs... depends on the day.. At first, the classes were kinda tough, but once I built stamina , they became easier and easier.. That isn't to say they are easy.. It's just that my body/mind has a better idea as to what to expect.. :)
Also, I try and do carbs earlier in the day.... and for dinner, keep it lean.. veggies, protein... this helps me as well..

As for the sinuses... after a round of meds, could be you don't have an infection.. Have you considered allergies? Also, notice if your sinuses are worse/better at different times of the month.. E.g.... during the Luteal Phase of your cycle, Progesterone is building and therefore, your body warms and hence, the heat can dry your sinuses a little too much and hence, cause any already sinusitis issues to worsen... Then once you have your period and Estrogen begins to build, you might notice your sinuses flow a bit better... Also, try one of those nasal systems.... I find they do a pretty good job when it comes to clearing out the upper part of the sinuses..

Good luck to you

What do mean eating right? Yes it's great to make those healthy choices but even if you are still eating too much healthy food you won't lose a pound. You won't gain weight either, just maintain. You need to count your calories! For some 5'4 you should only be eating about 1400 calories a day. Eat that much or even less, like 1200 (but don't go lower than 1200) and you'll start dropping the weight. Start by writing down everything you eat and the calorie amount. There are many sites online that will allow you type in any food so you can get the calorie amount. Because some things don't have the info on them like fruit and veggies or any type of take out etc. So do this and you will see results.
