My girl friend asked me to sell some of her bathing suits - they are in EXCELLENT condition - clean/washed...name brand...Anne Cole, etc. on ebay...

I've done some research on ebay and found that some but not all used bathing suits sell...i get 50 free listings a month and was thinking to try the bathing suits for the "freebies"...so tell me - if they are in EXCELLENT shape, clean/washed - would you buy a used bathing suit?

thanks!!

What can I do next?

Honestly - no. I might if it came from a close friend or family member, but not a stranger. Don't know why, but it has an ICK factor. Good question!

I buy them used for the kids all the time since they live in them in the summers and go thru them quickly. I would buy used for myself but I'm plus size and don't tend to find them in my size. I do draw the line at used underwear and bras for some reason and will not buy them. I'm ok with bathing suits maybe because you are generally in a pool with chlorine so it "kills any germs" or at least in my head it does!!! And thats what the washing machine does too. =)

Soap works. If it didn't each and every fork you have ever put in your mouth will still have every germ it has ever had on it...think of that when you go to eat at a restaurant next time.

Soap works. The garments are clean. You are not going to get cooties from them.

By the way to the germaphobes out there...if you wear a swimsuit you bought from a store...it was tried on by lots of people before you put it on your naked hiney...it had germs on it too.

Nope. Bathing suits and undergarments are just about the only things I won't buy used.

I bought my maternity swimsuit on eBay, so yes. My main problem with buying swimsuits online is not being able to try them on, not any hygeine issues. I'm with Gamma G. on that one- soap works. Think of how many people use a hotel towel before you!

No. I am all for buying things used, but this is one thing I wouldn't...

And, you're supposed to try suits on with underwear. Every suit I've ever seen in a store says to leave undergarments on...

Unless you were selling a VERY expensive suit for next to nothing (i.e. $200 suit for $20 or less), I can probably find a brand new suit that is just as nice for close to the same price. I am all for hand-me-downs, but if I am going to spend $30 on a used suit, I might as well buy a brand new one from Lands End Overstocks, or something similar to that.

Although, for me personally, bathing suits are like underwear...I don't really want to be wearing something in that spot of my body that someone else has worn on theirs.

Hi Cheryl,
Not in a million years. Just like I would not try on a bathing suit without underwear, I would NEVER buy one worn by someone else. It's kinds like buying someone else's underwear. I just think it is gross.

I wouldn't only because I couldn't try it on. Not because of any other reason.

I get most of my suits from my mom. She teaches water classes and get tired of them fast. I have TWO that are exactly the same because she buys THAT many suits.

I MIGHT buy a used one but I like www.swimsuitsforall.com The ALWAYS have sales!

I would - but I wouldn't spend more than 99c on a used bathing suit to be honest - wouldn't matter what brand it was.

I have bought bathing suits at thrift stores before. As long as the elastic is in good shape, I'm fine with it. I'm not worried about the whole germ bit, since after working in retail and seeing (and smelling) how dirty some people are when they try on clothes, I wash every item of clothing I buy before I wear it anyway.

I definitely wouldn't - find that to be really gross! And actually most of my kids clothes I buy used but I would never buy my daughter a used bathing suit either. We even got a bathing suit for her from a friend we knew but I just donated it since second hand suits gross me out!

I have bought a used bathing suit from a thrift store. If I were concerned about health issues I'd just wash it again. The reason that the law states we must wear underwear when when we try them on is that they do not get washed in between customers.

I've done it before. It depends on the item and the sellers reputation. And really, considering how suits are treated in stores and the tales of items that have been returned and resold as new, what's the diff? You still have to wash it yourself.

No. Not because there would be anything wrong with it, but I just don't spend much on them to start with. I buy mine at Ross. I am rough on them with waterskiing.
