Would You Buy Used Leotards?

Tell your mom that soap works...if it didn't then every fork she has ever put in her mouth would have the mouth germs of every person who has ever put it in their mouth on it.

I think it is so odd sometimes where people get their ideas.

Its not like your wearing them without washing them, its perfectly fine! Plus, people try on leotards and other undergarments on at stores--whos to say it hasn't been tried on without undies by 10 or so girls? You never know! Tell your mom, that unless she is going to buy them for you--she should keep her opinion to herself!

I can't think of much nastiness a 3 yo would have that you couldn't get rid of with soap and water. Plus lke you said we always wore panties under them and weren't ever in them long.

don't worry about your mom. there are lots more important things to worry about.

My daughter is 10 and dances several times a week. For a child your age, I think used leotards are just fine because the younger kids wear underwear under them; however, as kids get older if they are in a dance studio, they will be told not to wear underwear -- just tights -- under their leotards. That's been the policy at our last two studios. So I'd never buy used ones for my older child since the larger ones likely have been worn without underwear.

A 3 year old is in them for a couple hours max and doesn't sweat all that much. So for her, I would.
As for a more involved dancer where sweat is dumped out the second they get into the studio, then no way! Nasty! Even if there wasn't any stains or only used for one show. Ew no! That is a lot of nasty-ness right there.
There are ways to sanitize fabrics though, Sunning is a natural one. Oxyclean bleach, ect. so I guess if you go that route.

i think it's fine. i think all second hand clothes are fine ('cept underoos of course) b/c like someone said, kids grow so fast! plus, you'll be able to buy your baby more, which is what i like! i'm pretty positive Mom bought me used leotards & i would for my daughter, too. i guess for my son, too, but hopefully he never wears 'em, ha ha

I wouldn't buy used skivvies, bathings suits, bras, underwear, tights, or leotards. They're just a little too intimate for me even though skivvies are supposed to be worn under leotards.

I would let her. I don't think it's gross when your wearing something underneath. My dad thought it was gross to sell my daughter's 12 month swimsuit... I'm like she wore a diaper under it. Underwear is a different story, but not outer wear type stuff. like I wouldn't buy a 3yr old swimsuit b/c most of them don't wear diapers then.

she's 3. they hardly make any nastey stuff to worry about. LOL

I see nothing wrong with it - I've done the same. I've washed them first of course but other than that... it's still a piece of cloth the can be washed.

No, I say let her wear them. I did gymnastics for years and some leos were handed down. In College we had our own competition ones for the year, but different people had the same one from year to year since they belonged to the school.

Why the heck not. My daughter does gymnastics those things are freaking expensive and kids grow like weeds. My daughter has one she just had to have that she out grew in two weeks. Two weeks!

Our gym requires underwear under them anyway so whats the problem?
