Hello Ladies! Are there any moms out there who have their own side business at home? For example, I know a woman who makes baby blankets on the side? Does anybody else do anything? or have ideas ro something? I guess I'm looking for something to do on the side for extra mula. I did Avon and a couple of other things, but I get bored selling stuff, but I want something constructive or hands on, Poor choice of words becasue Avon and the likes are constructive, guess something a little more crafty or the arts....
I have been looking as well. It is hard unless you want to sell something!
What I would suggest is to figure out what you LOVE and then figure out how to make $ from it. I love animals... so I started dog walking/pet sitting while my kids are at school. I can't believe I make money doing something that is so enjoyable .. but I can bring in about 500-700 in a good month. Hubs thought I was crazy but now he's eating his words and is my biggest supporter!
Do you sew? I only ask, because as a SAHM myself, I am not very good at sewing and often have little things that need doing that I would pay a few bucks for here and there. I can't imagine that I am the only one.
If you ARE handy with a sewing machine.... could you take in a few things (re-hemming things, sewing on patches for uniforms, that sort of thing?).
$5 to have a couple of patches sewn on a uniform here or there is something I'd willingly pay. You could easily (and cheaply) advertise your services with a local boy scout or girl scout troup, or the local martial arts school (they all have patches for uniforms, too).
It cost me about $25 to have the appropriate patches sewn onto my son's black belt uniform. That's not including the costs of the patches themselves. I ended up taking it to a local Tshirt shop that does logos and things... but I would have paid a SAHM if I had known one who could/would do it.
I know a woman who used to make baby clothes. She made a LOT of money doing it, because her pieces were so unique. She got started by just buying some plain outfits and tore them apart for sizing and patterns. She combines unique patterns, fabrics, adds tutus, ribbons, bows, etc. She has made entire outfits (matching shoes, bows, tights, etc.) She had stuff ranging from $3.00-$80.00, and it all sold. She quit doing it when her hubby graduated med. school and became the breadwinner. The funny thing is that her 'side business' is what paid for her hubby's school!
Either making something, or providing a service.
ie: dog walking, pet sitting, kid sitting, Tutoring, house sitting, free lancing per free lancing sites online etc.
Making something: www.etsy.com is a great place to sell, for crafters or artisans.
I'm a stay at home mother. I picked up some extra children to help pay the bills. This has it ups and downs yes the money is good but it makes me not want anymore children. I have done other things on the side also but they did not last long. Right now I'm making candles on the side for eater for the family.
Go to some craft shows and see if there's something that jumps out at you. You could have a website called miyascraftyideas.com. That way you can change your ideas if you get bored. ;)
