How does one go about finding a lawyer or preparing a will or something that states who will become the legal guardian of my child? My husband and I need to get something done on this. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Pretty much any attorney can set up a standard will. They are pretty basic and there's not a lot of difference in the set up. My husband's company actually paid for an attorney for us to get ours done which was nice - you just have to update occassionally when certain laws change!

As far as retaining an attorney to draft a will I would recommend Mike Crow in Leavenworth. He was the president of the Kansas Bar Association a couple years ago, and he is very knowledgeable. If you do not want to go to Leavenworth to have it done he may be able to suggest someone else, or the Kansas Bar Association has a lawyer referral service. Mike's number is ###-###-####. If you call him, tell hom J. T. referred you.
