I'm trying to make a decision between getting a year subscription for either "Better homes and gardens", "Family Fun", or "Family circle". Have any of you read any of these, and what do you like about them? i'm looking for something with great recipes, activity ideas for kids, good parenting/marriage articles, easy home decor tips, etc. Thanks for your advice!

What can I do next?

Wow, thank you everyone. That information is all very helpful. I'm so glad i asked the question. I will probably end up just signing up for the online newsletters from them.

Only subscribe to a magazine if you really think you will read it. We never have time for magazines and they stack up and get thrown out. I never subscribe anymore because of that. I just don't make time for them. With blogs and free online access to many magazines and articles, I just don't think they are worth the money and counter space they require.

I read Better Homes and Gardens online for free :) A *few* things you have to pay for, but I just don't read those articles. I even get articles emailed to me.

I receive Family Fun, and it is cute, I think my inlaws got me the subscription b/c I know I never paid for it! They don't have much home decor type of articles like bhg does, but plenty of family ideas, recipes... Family Fun can be read online too I believe.

Family Fun!
My kids loved it and we've shared it with the afterschool program at the elementary school, too.

I'm currently getting the Family Circle magazine. You get 14-15 magazines per year so some months you'll get two magazines. So this month was my first month getting the magazines and I got two issues. Both issues were pretty small and had a lot of advertisements. They did have some quick & easy recipes which I haven't tried yet. I don't remember seeing any activity ideas for kids in the two issues. If you can, I would suggest that the next time you go grocery shopping or to Target/Walmart that you stop by the magazine aisle and just thumb throw them to get an idea of what best suits you. I personally am not impressed w/my Family Circle magazine subscription but I've only rec'd the two half issues.

Family Fun was a good one but I haven't read it in years so I'm not sure what it's like these days.

I don't think I've ever had a BHG subscription so I can't comment.

I like Family Fun and subscribe to it anytime someone offers me a deal. Most of their home decor stuff deals with kids-- as do many of their recipies, etc.

I occasionally get Family Circle. I don't read half of the ones I get.

I cancelled my Better Homes and Gardens and gave away the issues I had. It did not seem to deal with my life much at all.

I'd probably do Better Homes and Garden.

I currently LOVE my People magazine.. I've had it for 20 yrs since I was in marketing

I love my Cosmo and for some reason I have Ladies Home Journal which is not bad. I don't recall ordering LHJ, must have been some special.

I do Family Fun online! I have learned that If I have the magazine sitting here more than likely I won't read it and it collects dust. :)

I used to get BH&G and it can't compare to family fun ideas, kid friendly recipes and parenting articles like the other 2 you listed, but it does have great home decor and home organization ideas.

Wow, if you can read Better Homes & Gardens online for free as Mama L suggested, I would do
that as it's more expensive.
Then I would selec "Family Circle" for the subscription as it isn't too expensive and has a bit of everything from articles, family info & recipes.

If you were sitting in a waiting area which are you most likely to look at? If I see the three I always choose Family Fun lol! It is great for kids to look at too! The projects are easy and made to be done by the family! Family Circle and BH&G are more done by to look professional.

So hands down for me in Family Fun lol!
