Where, Oh Where Has My Period Gone?!?!

i have an appointment with planned parenthood in a week, but i thought i would ask you other women if these symptoms are something youve experienced.
first of all, i did not have my period this month. 2 preg tests came out negative. i still had normal cramps during the normal time of my period. ive never had this before.
i cant figure out what it is from. my family doctor told me to have my thyroid checked and to make an appointment with a gyno. i had a LEEP done last year which i have only followed up at an appointment 2 times. could it be something to do with that? im not freaking out with worry because i otherwise feel fine. but it is bothersome to me that something is going on indide my body that i am not aware of.
what have your experiences been with this?
ps, some of you are wondering.....my daughter is 2 years old, i normally have regular periods, i am under the same amount of stress as usual, i am not nursing or on medication, my last period was 2 months ago, i do not excersize strenuously. thank you everyone for the responses so far. Keep em coming!

What can I do next?

My periods were always regular but my test didn't come up positive till I was 9 days late. And even then it barely showed up! I would just wait and see what the dr. sayd. but I would get a blood test done to confirm whether you're expecting or not.

There are alot of possibilities in your case. Could you have been working out more than normal? Have you gained or lost alot of weight recently? I also have a friend who didn't have a period for a while and she took a test too, but she found out later that she lacked the hormone in her urine for a positive, but when they drew blood, there it was. Also, I have a neice that had a cyst that caused her to miss periods. Whatever it is, it's very important to get it checked out. God bless.

Hi Donna~
I am 34 and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - look it up on WebMD. But it causes your hormones to be out of wack. Symptomes such as: irregular periods, weight gain, acne, unable to conceive, etc. I had my daughter then this came about. Also I don't know if you are Pro-life, but going to Planned Parenthood is not (in my Opinion) a good place. Especially if you are having female problems. I had my hormone levels tested through blood work and went on a few meds that balanced them out and I am back on track.
Good Luck!

You didn't mention how old your child is...I have heard it can take a good yr for your period's to become 'normal' again after a baby. If that's not the case, you very well could be pregnant. Like someone else mentioned, it took over a week for mine to show positive and it was so faint that I had to have a blood test done. Could also be stress. Mine were always right on the dot, but 8 months after having my daughter, they are still out of whack.

How regular are your periods? Have you been under a lot of stress lately?

My periods are extremely irregular and it took 3 at home tests and 2 blood tests to confirm my last pregnancy... The doctor had me go through tons of tests like you are before ordering a second pregnancy test. I would have your doctor do a blood test.

If you're not pregnant, they will probably give you Provera. I had to do this when my periods suddenly disappeared for 5 months. It gets your period started again. It will start, usually, within 3-7 days after starting the Provera. Once I took that, my periods became "normal" again. If you've recently had your baby, it could be just from that, especially if you're nursing.

Did your doctor perform blood test to make sure you are not pregnant? You cant always trust store bought test. Family doctors are capable of running all blood work. I would go to him before going to planned parenthood and ask to have the test run for you. Good Luck!

hey donna..how are you doing? How long has it been since you have had a period? well it could be many things..stress,or that you could be pregnant..even if you have taken the pregnancy tests..cause there could be lack of certain hormones that the pregnancy test can't pick up..give it a month or two then try the test again...
..my sister went through the same thing for quit awhile..i myself have had this problem too.. my sister in law and I have had the lacoscope surgery done.......
..finding out that we had too much scarr tissue growing around our uterus and that is why we both were not having periods
.. so ask your doctor about that...well i hope i could have been of some help good luck and let me know what happens..
take care

Dear Donna,
Are you nursing? Did you recently start a new type of birth control? Did you lose a lot of weight or excercise too strenously?
Also I jst remembered a friend of mine would go for months without a period they finally put her on the pill to correct it. I guess it was hormonal. Are your testosterone levels too high?

First of all I do not think it is from the LEEP. Your lining this month and last may not have gre like it normally does. As mentioned in the other responses...under stress?? breastfeeding? hormonal changes? Can all play a factor in your cycle. The one response about the meds to restart your sycle. That is more than likely what your DR. will do. Our office uses Prometrium to kick start women's cycles when they are missed after several months. Just make sure to see your doc to rule out anything else.
