When Did Your Period Start While Breastfeeding?

My daughter is 15 months old and I went off the mini-pill on Memorial Day. I have been breastfeeding my daughter from day one, but now she really only is breastfed first thing in the morning and at night (sometimes a snack at night if she wakes up.) I still haven't gotten my period but I've been crampy since early June. I've worn a pad since Memorial Day thinking that it was going to start, but nothing yet. Has anyone else experienced this? Now I'm worried I might be pregnant, but my last pregnancy test on Saturday was negative. I think I'm just over-reacting and would love some advice from mother's who have experienced the same thing. My friends all got their periods while on the mini-pill when their little ones were about 6 months old or so.

So What Happened?™

Thank you so much everyone. From what I read most people got their periods back at 6 months so I was starting to really worry that I hadn't gotten mine. Now I know that there are plenty of other women who are in the same boat as me so now I'm not as worried that something is wrong. Thank you!!!

Mine came back at 12 months. I breastfed until my son was 3.

I didn't take the pill, but started right around 6 months after DD was born. I want you to know, though, that I have taken 3-4 pregnancy tests since then (my daughter will be 1 this week) b/c I thought I was pregnant. My cycle is insane- sometimes 45+ days. I called my OB and she said that having a really irregular cycle after pregnancy is normal, and she couldn't give me an idea about when it would "even out." Good luck!

I nursed my daughter for 2 1/2 years, exclusively for 6 months and still a lot through the first 2 years. I did not take any birth control and got it back at 14 months. Don't worry, be happy!

It took me a few months after stopping breast feeding with both my kids. My kids were each over a year old before I started mine. It kind of wierded me out the first time, but everyone is different, so as long as you are healthy otherwise I wouldn't worry to much. If you are thinking that you might be pregnant don't feel silly about visiting your doctor.
