When Did Your Morning Sickness Begin?

Hello! I am 6 weeks pregnant and have been spared morning sickness so far. Last time I was pregnant I would feel sick for 1-2 hours after waking up and sometimes at night, although I never got sick. I am wondering how far along in pregnancy morning sickness normally starts. I am super tired but so far that is the most annoying part of pregnancy :) Did anyone not have morning sickness at all?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your stories, ladies. I think I was so surprised by this pregnancy (definitely wanted it, but thought it would be a struggle to get pregnant)that I am doubting it when it's so early and I don't have the signs I am used to. Crossing my fingers for a sick-free pregnancy!

My OB ahd said morning sickness is mainly weeks 7-9. I had just 2 days of feeling yucky. Maybe you're getting lucky this time around :)

I got it between 6 and 7 weeks both times. I am 12 wks now and it is getting a lot better. Mostly just at night or when I am hungry. I think for most people it is around that time also. You are lucky if you don't get it :) 2 of my friends had none at all, one didn't even find out she was preggo till 5 mo along.

Hi S.,

Congratulations! Every pregnancy is different. With my first pregnancy I was super tired but had no morning sickness at all. Occasionally I felt nauseated around 6 wks but then everything just disappeared. However, let me tell you with my second pregnancy I had morning sickness at 5 wks and it continued until 51/2 mons. I was just throwing up and not feeling good..ended up losing a lot of weight. At 6 mons I finally felt better. I am 33 wks pregnant as of today and it seems every new 3 wks I still feel morning sickness...it's just bizzare. Hence, I say every pregnancy is different. Will keep my fingers crossed and hope you get no morning sickness:0) Congrats again and take care and stay hydrated!

Hi!

I am also six weeks along too! Congratulations to you!! :) I was reading up on morning sickness the other day (unfortunately, i haven't been spared! lol ), and I know what i read said that it lasts the whole first trimester. i know with my son Gabe, I had it until i was about 6 months! :( so maybe it just depends on the person? I know there are some lucky gals that have been spared from the morning sickness. I had a friend who never had morning sickness.

Well, I hope i was of some help! :) And congrats to you!

I was very lucky and had no morning sickness at all, and i have four boys now. My doctor said that sometimes that runs in the family, if your mom didn't have it then chances are you won't either. I was very tired alot though.

I only had morning sickness with #1 for 2 mornings. Then it was in the evenings for a few days then it was gone (all by the 9th week). I never had it at all with #2 or #3. I was just extremely tired with the second and third pregnancies.

Congrats on your new pregnancy! I believe I am one of the rare ones who was entirely spared from morning sickness! I was over 6 wks pregnant before I even knew due to sporadic periods. We've only had one child so far (who turns 1 in a wk already!), so we'll see how my next prenancy goes, but you never know, maybe you'll be lucky like me?!
Best of luck to you!

Not every pregnancy is the same. I had a bit of morning sickness with my first but none with my 2nd. Instead I would have a bloody nose just about every morning. Weird I know but the Dr. said it was due to hormones. It was not very bad and they never lasted for more then a few minutes. The only time I actually ever got sick at my tummy was smelling a hot pastarmi sandwich. So you maybe lucky and not have any morning sickness with this baby.

I had nauseau starting at around 10-11 weeks. I never had it in the morning, only in the later afternoon and evening. I had it off-and-on until my last trimester. Meat and coffee totally freaked me out--the smell and even just seeing either.

By month 7 or 8 I was back to myself and eating meat and enjoying the occasional cup of coffee. Ginger anything (chews, ale, snaps) got me through the rougher months.

I don't think there is a "normal" time for nauseau. I have heard some woman say this was their first symptom of pregnancy, happening immediately after conception. And yes, I know some lucky mom is going to say she never had it, and we can all hate her (j/k). ;-)

Congrats!

Congratulations S.!

I didn't really have morning sickness with my daughter - just felt yucky sometimes if I didn't eat often enough. But had it pretty bad with my son. I got it right around 5 - 6 weeks and lasted until about 14 weeks. Everyone and every pregnancy is different. Hopefully you won't get it. Try not to worry about it too much - congratulations again!

My first pregnancy was a piece of cake. No morning sickness at all. I am 34 weeks pregnant with my second child and I was nauseous before I took a pregnancy test. It lasted for 5 months. It was horrible. Hopefully since you haven't had any symptoms so far you will sidestep it.

Congrats on your new pregnancy!

I was a really lucky mommy the first time and never had morning sickness. I honestly tried not to brag or boast about it thinking that it would come back to haunt me if I did! I also had friends who were pregnant at the same and felt horrible, so I was trying to just gloss over the fact that I felt fine! :-) If anything, I was a little jealous because I didn't "feel" pregnant since I didn't have any symptoms.

My little son is now 18-months-old and I'm 13 weeks along with my second. Despite my efforts not to brag, I got hit with "all day sickness!" starting at 5 weeks! It's still going strong, too, so I am no longer feeling so jealous of "feeling" pregnant!!

I really wouldn't worry - every pregnancy is different and I am proof that you can be spared in one and hit hard in the next!

If I had it, it usually started around 8 weeks. I had pretty typical morning sickness with my first kid. With my second pregnancy I had a little queasiness but pretty much just a little heartburn. With my next kid I really didn't have morning sickness at all but I did have indigestion, where almost everything I ate gave me stomach cramps. Not sure which is worse! I don't think that lasted that long, so overall it was pretty mild. Its just weird how different the 3 pregnancies were. The first and third were boys, and i don't know about the 2nd because the pregnancy ended at 12 weeks.

With my first child I had no morning sickness. Second child horrible morning sickness. Third child no morning sickness again. I didn't really do anything different during each of the pregnancies. Although I suppose our life circumstances are always changing and each pregnancy is different so I am not sure why I had it or didn't have it each of those times.

My births were different too. First one 16 hours - horrible. Second one - 16 hours - horrible. Third one - about 20 minutes and almost painless.

Hi S.,

I have been blessed with 3 beautiful children (ages 5-boy, 3-boy and 1-girl) and was spared from having morning sickness with all of them. There were a couple of times with each when I felt nauseaus for a day, but that was all. I did have some other crazy symptoms during the 1st trimester: stuffy nose every morning. I wish you a good pregnancy.

With my first pregnancy I only had nausea in the morning if I took my prenatal vitamin on an empty stomach. I also had a little nausea with some smells (ketchup was one of the worst). It only happened a couple of times and only for the first trimester.

With my 2nd pregnancy I haven't had any morning sickness at all. If I did it coincided with the nasty stomach virus that my daughter and I both had at the same time I was first pregnant. In fact with this pregnancy I haven't had any of the typical symptoms--no morning sickness, no sore breasts, nothing. I even took 2 pregnancy tests because I didn't believe the first one. I have had several friends who didn't have any morning sickness at all either. Be thankful if you don't!

I never had morning sickness. I've also heard that each pregnancy can be completely different, so accept it for the blessing that it is! (And hope it lasts.)
