What to Do in Paris - as In, France, Not Texas!

Oh, I wish I were asking this on my own behalf. As a mommy of two little boys, a trip overseas (or anywhere!) would be pretty good.

Alas, it's not me, but my dad that's doing business in Europe this week and my mom is flying to meet him as they celebrate their 32nd anniversary. They'll be in London most of the time, but will make an overnight trip to Paris. If you've traveled there (Paris), do you have any recommendations for things to do? It can be romantic, fun, unique, etc. I will say they will likely not lean toward anything art-related.

I agree with the other moms....it's really great fun to walk up & down the Champs Elysee at night and see all the beautiful lights and people watch and look into the amazing beautiful store fronts. I would recommend for them to pick a couple of areas of the city and just wander around on foot. On all of my Europeon trips, that's usually when I'm surprised at what I find. ALL the food is great so don't be afraid to try anything. And, not to sound weird or morbid, but we happened to find ( on one of our walks) the Ritz that Diana stayed at before she died. It was kind of interesting to see it first hand---I hope that's not too wierd! Also, shop, shop, shop!!!!

We were in Paris just two days (also as an extension of a business trip. The best advice we got was to get an all day pass for the double decker tourist bus. We saw everything we wanted to see and were able to get off & explore the sites we were most interested in.

If they're not into art or arcitecture, then the Louvre, Notre Dame & Versailles are probably out. But Paris is full of romance! A picnic in the park attached the Eiffel Tower c'est magnifique!!! An evening cruise on the Seine or a stroll through Jardin de Luxembourg is romantic, as well as just stopping for a meal at an outdoor cafe and people watching. Montmartre is quite beautiful too and offers some breathtaking views. Also, they must go to the Place de le Concord to view the famous Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysee. Of course since it is their anniversary, he must take her to Galleries Lafayette or Printemps or Le Bon Marche to buy her a gift. :-)

While it is not unique, the Eiffel Tower truly is wonderfully amazing place! Even if they do not go up in it, it is an incredible feeling to stand underneath such an enchanting structure! If I could go again and were your parents, I would take a bottle of champagne, two glasses, and toast my husband of 32 years while standing underneath it!
