This may seem like the craziest question ever, but what kind of popcorn do you buy? We buy microwave popcorn and I just can't seem to get great results with any brand I've tried. I think it might be my microwave but I wonder if I should just try a different brand???

What can I do next?

Black Jewel popcorn is YUM. It is an all black kernel that pops snow white with nearly no mother in the bottom of the bag.

We like Orville's Gourmet Popping corn, on the stove, a little oil, a little salt, just right! If you're not used to making it on the stove may take a couple tries to get it right, but taste and texture SO much better than microwave!

Microwave? Orville Reddenbacker (Kettle Corn is our fav)

But 90% of the time we just take bulk white corn popping corn, a little olive oil, and pop our own on the stove. Top it off with nutritional yeast & kosher salt.

I've had the same air popper for the last 25 years and we love it! And I had a roommate that would pour oil in the bottom of a regular cooking pot and pop it in there, but more times than not, it would burn and she'd ruin my pans! But when it did turn out it was really, really good. I vote for an air popper!

We use regular yellow popcorn, cooked in a heavy bottom pot on the stove with a little canola oil, then add butter, salt, and lots of nutritional yeast. Yum! Hasn't burned yet... just need to keep shaking it up while it's cooking... don't let it sit more than a few seconds. And take it out of the pot right away.

Have you considered buying a traditional popcorn popper? (they aren't expensive) We just made the switch a few months ago and it's night and day difference compared to microwave popcorn. I can't even stomach microwave popcorn now, it's so filled with chemicals compared to the oil and popcorn version.

We ditched the microwave popcorn a few years ago. Now we use an air popper. We like the traditional butter and salt, but we also love getting to make our own versions. The kids love a little cinnamon on theirs. I like Parmesan and italian seasoning with a little olive oil. The hubby likes olive oil, sea salt and italian seasoning. It's cheaper, healthier and tastes great!

The absolute best microwave popcorn is the popcorn the Boy Scouts sell. However, it's only sold during a short period annually. Short of that, I agree Black Jewel is the best.
