What Bread Machine Do You Recommend?

Okay, so my last post was about making bread. Well, the bread turned out great and was eaten up in no time. Of course, they keep asking for more and I just don't have the time to make bread as much as I'd like to. Plus, it was a tad more time consuming than I had anticipated. So, I need a machine that is easy to work!

What can I do next?

My MIL & I swear by the Panasonic. The reason it's so great is that the yeast compartment & bread pan are separate, so the yeast doesn't mix in too soon.

I have one that we use a lot. It's an Oster and almost 10 years old, maybe more. I like the description of the Panasonic Phyllis mentioned. Also what you may want to do is look for one on freecycle or craigslist. People think they will use them and most don't and many of those people give them away or sell them cheaply. That way you can see how much you'd use it and then if you really want the features you can think about them and get a new one later. We actually have two and use both at Christmas. I guess we could get rid of one, but it's nice having some things baking that aren't taking up oven space.

I have a Toastmaster bread machine, which I love. Yes, it is old (inherited it in 1998) but still works. I use my machine for the dough setting.....pizza, cinnamon rolls, bread, etc. and agree, there are so many settings I don't use but it is great for getting the dough done.

I am not a cook, but I love the wonderful smells from homemade bread! I'm a big fan of the two easiest gagets for food: the crock pot and the breadmaker. Mine is a Westbend, about 10 years old, and I use it lots! I usually make a basic french or white bread but sometimes a quick bread. I'm not too adventurous so it doesn't matter to me that it's not fancy, but it works great- about 3 hours after dumping the ingredients in, we have homemade bread! Love it!

I use my bread machine every day. I usually only use it for the dough cycle though. I makes it easier for whatever I'm making to rise. I also have a great pizza dough recipe that I use the bread machine for.

I have a Sunbeam:

That's the model I have.

I have a Cuisinart. My parents bought it for our family as a Christmas gift a couple years ago. It gets heavy use. It came with a handy recipe book that has everything from basic white bread to whole wheat to gluten-free to dessert breads to jam. We make pizza dough and pretzels all the time using the machine to mix and rest the dough for the rising time. It's an easy, versatile machine to use.

i recommend NOT getting one, youll use it for maybe a month, big and clunkly and the heel is usually too hard because its not delicately tended to.

I have one and only use it all the time, but only for the dough setting. If you have a Kitchenaid with a dough hook I would forgo the breadmaker (I don't have one).
If you really want to get one, get the cheapest or even a used one. I PROMISE you that you will NOT be using all the fancy settings anyways, but it's great to just get the dough done...
