Ah...Donald Trump.
Darling of the GOP.
A man produced by the party's spontaneous combustion.
Catapulted to the top of the polls due to the lack of viable, serious, non crazy alternatives.
If I was a Republican, I'd be livid. Because he'll deliver the death blow to the party. He's already making it a mockery.

Trump is a product of the lack of intelligence in this country. I say lack of intelligence because the people who are serious about him are not exactly people who know about him. I hope. For God sakes when I lived in NY it was well known he had mob ties to go along with his bankruptcies, corrupt hiring practices of ILLEGAL WORKERS etc etc etc. He's always been a chauvinist pig to women. He's a draft dodger and a born rich spoiled human. People love it that he "tells it like it is" as in, spews nonsense with confidence. Just like Bush. Didn't matter that what he was saying was garbage, just as long as he said it forcefully. His fans are the faction of the country who thinks Murricka is numero uno and deserves to boss the rest of the world around, so they like big bullies. They also think wealth equals virtue.

I mourn for the intelligent Republicans and also wonder: Why has there not been a viable candidate in so long? How did the religious right wing confiscate the party? I was even considering McCain for a minute before Palin came along and crazied up the ticket...

My dad is a Harvard graduate and retired Director of International Law at the Pentagon. He served in Viet Nam and he's one of the most intelligent, ethical, hard-working, conscientious people I know. He's also a Republican. He's appalled at Trump and Fox News. Where are the candidates for people like him?

The fact that this is news is at once amusing and scary. I miss the days of Walter Cronkite, when news reporting was unbiased, factual and relevant. The stuff that masquerades as news these days is a joke.

ETA - Fuzzy, true, it is impossible to omit all bias from news reporting. The choice alone of what to cover and what not to cover implies bias. However, there used to be at least an honest attempt at ethical journalism.

i'm angry. i'm angry that someone who is so clearly an egomaniac with a laundry list of insanity issues is so dominating the media. i'm angry that people who are otherwise sensible are actually taking him seriously.
like them or not, there are not-insane republicans running for president. every single sane republican out there (myself included) should be horrified that the fark-america-so-long-as-we-get-ours wing of the republican party has pushed for this.
ETA as for 'trusting him more than hillary', i have to hope that this is a knee-jerk reaction that would be revised upon some actual reflection. whatever one thinks about hillary (and she has some serious drawbacks), she was an incredible SoS- canny, low-key, thoughtful, effective, intelligent. she drove our foreign policy in the terrible years after the bush wars and put us back at the grown-ups' table across the world. trump treats women like f*^k dolls or serving wenches, bankrupts businesses, ships his own manufacturing overseas (not only depriving americans of work but using slave labor), casually puts thousands on the welfare rolls every time another of his businesses goes belly-up, is incapable of sussing out the relatively easy difference between being insulting, belligerent and provocative with being 'PC', and if he's speaking for you by saying what you're too afraid to say, then you (generic) are an ignorant bigot incapable of actually comprehending issues more complex than hungry/eat or horny/boink.

I have fired my cable company. We have been 2 weeks without.

Must have been a good choice if 'this' was considered news.

:(

I fear for our country.

Squid, I too miss the days of real journalism, but never was the news unbiased. It has always been reported by human beings, and their biases always come through, even if subtly.

He's a clown that puts on an entertaining show. I have always been politically minded, raised in that sort of family and married that sort of man. This time around though???????? I can hardly keep my lunch down and all I want to do is change the channel...so I do....God help us.

It's...just...sigh. Mindboggling.

Every time they report on him, it is some stupid idiotic thing he says. If he were elected president, we would probably be at war with every nation whether they have an army or not. And to think he believes he will have 2 terms.

Don't know or care about his hair, actually I wasn't going to comment, but I have to - I am SO encouraged by these responses. Reading the news like I do online, and I use a wide range of websites from MSNBC.com to Fox - has nothing to do with my personal beliefs I just feel like I should read them all and make up my own mind - you wouldn't think that people were actually catching on to this game. The news reporters don't seem to be, so I am SO GLAD that so many of the below responders have. Let's just hope the rest of America sees all the smoke and mirrors for what it is too. From Trump to the religious extremists in the GOP, I'm encouraged to see I'm not the only one exasperated with it all.
