I really like to do the BodyPump program at the Y...lifting weights while listening to music. I know that this a Les Mill program....but does anyone know of a program I can do at home while doing the weightlifting in front of the tv...or listening to a guiding CD...I just would like to do this program at home since I have the weights.

Thanks

The most hard core weight training video set I know of is P90X. I have a friend who is an aerobics instructor and really into fitness and she says it is legit and really good. I think you need weights and a pull up bar to do it. The same company, beach bodies, has a more intro video series called the 10 minute Trainer, the instructor for both is Tony Horton. It looks really good, but doesn't actually require weights, they use bands and your own body weight like lunges for example. Of course you could always use weights while lunging if you chose to. Anyway both of those look great to me. I am prego right now but really looking forward to trying out the 10 minute Trainer after I have the baby, and hopefully being tough enough to graduate to P90X. So you might want to check those out online. Good luck!

I have and love the "Get Ripped! With Jari Love" DVD. It is a 55 minute workout that is very much like a body pump class. My next DVD purchase will be the "Get Ripped! With Jari Love: Get Ripped and Chisled". You can purchase them on Amazon.com (you'll also be able to see the reviews that people have made about these DVD's). ---DM

Kathy Smith is one of my favorite instructors. She is among the safest---big plus when you are doing things at home without supervision.
Remember that the trainers/ instructors at the gym are there to make sure your technique is good so you don't get injured.
Glad you like weight training, but don't forget to stretch! Get in some yoga or pilates and be careful to not overdo the weights. As a certified fitness instructor, I see lots of people who overdo one aspect of their fitness and forget about the others.

My husband has been doing p90x for a few years now. He loves it. He got the results he wanted, and it's interesting and challenging enough that he is sticking with it. I've been thinking about trying it too.
