Hi T.,
I really like T-Tapp. It is a great core strengthener. It is similar to yoga or pilates but I have really seen results with this. The workout is about 17 minutes long for those days where you want to get some activity in but don't have a lot of time. I have also started the Walk Away the Pounds videos and really like those for a good sweat!
Have fun!

Pilates, Pilates, Pilates. It is so uplifting and you don't even know you are exercising. I go to Poway Pilates on Midland Road and its awesome. My instructor is Angella. Give her a call. Plus you can get an evaluation to see if this is what you want to do before you get all involved. Not a gym thing at all, and I have done it for over 6 months now and its awesome. I have lost inches, all over and love my new look and is continuing. I am a SAHM to kids ages 27 - 14 yrs old. So I have done it all. Plus I love to eat out with my family and bake regularly. So its Pilates, a little bit diet, and then you make the change.

My daughter, who's 29, siad she just started using "The 30 day Shred" exercise dvd by Jillian Michaels also. She said is less than 30 minutes but she had some shaky legs afterwards. She was pretty impressed. It's an interval workout repeated a few different times she says.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE "The 30 day Shred" exercise dvd by Jillian Michaels (She's the tough fitness instructor for the hit TV show THE BIGGEST LOSER" It's short and sweet and to the point. The first level workout is just 25 minutes and that includes a warm up and cool down. She does do quite a bit of aerobic jumping (I just started using a trampoline for those sections of the video and it helped me) It's toned and slimmed me down! Of course that's along with healthy eating habits and lots of water!

I know you are looking for a DVD, so this may not be doable for you but I thought I would let you know about a class we just started taking in Encinitas. Boogie Boxing. I have been doing bootcamp for six months and while there has been great change, the belly wasn't going. I barely started doing this class sometimes 2 x a week and the belly just comes off. It is so much fun and works like crazy. My girlfriend dropped 20lbs in three monthss, she was doing it three times a week, but you get the point. It is M & W 7pm and Sat 9am. Held in the dance room at Encinitas Boxing & Fitness
613 Westlake Street
Encinitas, CA 92024

If were working out before I would recommend anything by Jillian Michaels. It's tough though and she does a lot of jumping which if your pelvic floor isn't strong enough then it won't work.

Try 8 minute Tae Bo with Billy Blanks. His longer versions are also great but the 8 min version is quick and gets results without taking a lot of your time.

Also remember that lactic acid (builds up from working out) is not good for the baby. You have to wait 3o min or so after working out before you nurse or pump.

I started a nutritional program (not just eating healhty but eating superfoods), i did Pilates for Dummies. And released 42 pounds 3 years ago. I stayed on the program, I feel better than I ever had. I am 40 years old, i have 2 kids and I am in the best shape of my life.

If the nutritional program interests you, please let me know.

The Firm videos are awesome- they combine cardio with weight training. I usually hate videos because they are not hard enough- these ones get the job done! Combine them with your treadmill (video one day, treadmill another) and you will be in great shape!

Good luck with your excersise plan.
I liked this one because I can get it done it about 30 min. I see results in my abdomen, legs, low back and arms within a few days believ it or not!

I recently purchased the "10 Minute Trainer" DVDS from BeachBody. They are great addition to working on the treadmill. You get a great workout in only 10 minutes. There are 5 differnt videos, so you can put them together for a longer workout. I like the fact that they are only 10 minutes because I can do one in the morning before the kids wake-up and one at night when they are asleep.

Hi, I recommend "The Biggest Loser" work out dvd, they have different ones and they really work, if you follow them of course. But the best thing you can do is walk about 30 minutes a day, I find that works out the best for me. Well, I know you will find these dvd workouts at Target... or maybe check out you local library first, this way you try before you buy!!! God bless

I don't have a specific recommendation, but if you have Netflix or Blockbuster online you can add workout dvds (I like to get the Yoga ones) and try them out. If you don't like it, you can send it back (as any other rented movie) and if you do like it, you can purchase it.

Just a thought, but it's what I do and now I've got a couple great Yoga dvds I would NEVER have chosen from a store....

Hey T.! I'm on the same boat your on. My daughter and I like working out to Hip Hop Abs. It's fun cardio, the instructor is also a dance choreographer. The work outs are fun because they're basically just some simple dance moves with good music. My daughter and I get so caught up into it and forget it's a work out dvd. Hopefully you'll give it a try and like it.

It's not a DVD, but I have been doing the yoga program on the FIT channel. If you have that channel I would recommend trying some of their programs (I record them on our DVR) because then you get a different workout every time. The Exercise on Demand channel also comes free on our cable, but doesn't have quite as much to offer.

We liked the South Beach Diet Supercharged book. There's also a workout DVD available to complement it but we didn't use it. We followed most of the principles in the book as well as the workout schedule, which is really easy and simple (15-20 minutes of interval walking outside or on a treadmill since you have one and total body workouts) and were surprised to drop 16-20 pounds in just two months! Since you're breastfeeding, I would start on phase 2. I started the program one month before I started weaning my son before his 1st birthday and it worked wonders!

Hi T.,
you need weights and cardio; do BenchFit 20 min DVD to uptrain pelvic floor/core and back for post partum fitness; I created it and am a womens health Physical Therapist here in San Diego, you can get it off the website BenchFit.com, it is a sustainable and safe program. If you push the boot camp stuff too much you can exhaust yourself and also strain weakened ligaments from pregnancy and nursing. Also if you are sore or tender, Exercise Pearls for New Moms will tighten things up and re-build Pelvic stability and posture, its a booklet, also downloadable as an e book.
With the workout: BenchFit I 20 x, I lost the stubborn 20 # with it, and my girlfriends talked me into making the DVD and Book! And, I also had to eat more nutritious more often, smaller portion sizes , and more hydration.
For local classes (drop in available) e mail me and I'll send the schedule,
Power On, Energize!
