Warm Feet

They make sleepNplay outfits up to 4T in thinner cotton... for the winter you might consider using one as an undergarment so at least he can't pull off the footies... it may look a little strange as far as fashion goes but it'll keep the wind from blowing up his pant legs. Then put the shoes on over the footies... after a few failed attempts at producing bare feet on his own he may even start to leave the shoes alone...then you can get the ones that tie and the little "locks" for the laces... good luck!

My daughter hated shoes too, until I bought Robeez. She can't get them off and after a couple days, she hasnt tried. They are very soft and flexable and are easy for her to get around in.

My younger son (2.5yrs) is at the end of that same phase which has gone on for over 1.5 years! Even tho I was pretty diligent about it, we still lost some sox along the way. At 9 months your son really should only be wearing soft-soled, very flexible shoes, more like slippers. Like Robies. It's hard to find baby sox that don't fall or come off easily. Maybe try some of those triple rolled sox & pull them up his legs as far as possible, kinda like knee sox. This might slow down the process a bit. I found them at Baby Gap, Babie's R Us & The Children's Place. One mom's suggestions of putting him in tights is a good idea, too. I know it might seem early, but he could also be enjoying the reaction he gets from you if you show anger or frustration. So, maybe make no comment or reaction when he does it & just put the sox back on. Also carry some extra pairs w/you. As far as layering him up (one mom mentioned babies needing 2 layers) I had that same concern but read a fews articles on it & asked our ped. who said that if we're cold & want another layer, chances are a baby does, too. Smae goes for being hot. Just make sure his layers aren't too bulky or thick so that he can still move around comfortably. Good luck!

My son didn't wear socks or shoes either. I was finally able to get him into aqua shoes at about 1 year. The doctor said don't worry as long as he keeps warm enough. Kids are kicking their feet almost non-stop and that movement keeps blood flowing to the feet and back to the heart, the blood keeps them warm. Remember to keep his head, arms and torso warm.

Don't worry about what others think because it's probably not the lesson you want to teach your child, but if you are doing so, that is what he will learn. If you can look at yourself at the end of the day and say "I was a wonderful, kind, and loving parent today. I made sure my child was comfortable and out of danger, and knows he is loved," you shouldn't worry about anyone elses perceptions and belief systems.

Hello K., your request gave me a chuckle because I had the same issue with my little one. First of all, try not to let dirty looks from anyone affect your parenting confidence---you know that you are doing your best! During the warmer months, try those wonderful leather soft-soled shoes (I used Robeez) that stay on with an elasticized band. During the colder months, I would use footy pajamas, and then pants over those, if layers were needed. Baby stays warm and there is no way those "socks" are coming off! I remember people chasing after me in stores or the market with "you dropped your baby's sock" all the time. Good luck--it happens to most every mom.

I've used Bobux slippers for my second and third child. www.bobuxusa.com Neither of my children ever got one off. The are not washable (made of leather), but always lasted until they were ready for the next size anyway.

Well babies are suppose to wear double what the adult wears. So you could possibly put under the cloths thin pj's that has the built in booties(like a onesie with feet).

What about buying some little black tights? He sure couldn't take those off!

You might try having him wear light weight sleeper jammies (the ones with feet) under his clothes. I do this with my little guy. No socks to lose! Plus he's nice and warm.

Have you tried Robeez? They are these really cool, soft leather shoes with elastic around the ankle. My kids loved them and couldn't get them off! They also don't make the feet hot. They are kind of expensive and you can get them at robeez.com or on ebay. I just happened to find some knock-offs at Walmart one day for $10, so you may want to check there too!

Believe me, you are not the first parent whose child won't keep shoes and socks on. I think cold feet are a significate part of babyhood! :)

This may sound silly, but I put dark colored tights on my boys in the winter when they were this age. They could not take off their foot wear. With them wearing pants, no one will know that they have tights on. It worked for me.

He's normal. Don't expect him to keep socks or shoes on his feet unless you glue them there or he turns into a teenager and it isn't cool to walk around barefoot. I wouldn't recommend the tape, he'd probably eat it! If he's healthy, he's probably ok. If you are really REALLY worried, put him in sleep and plays with feet and put his regular clothes over the top of it when in public. He can't get out of those! Yet... Oh, and for the other people ignore them or tell them to zip it! He's your baby and you aren't hurting him. He doesn't wear socks and shoes on his hands.

My daughter's ankles were so chubby her socks just slid off plus she enjoyed kicking them off. I lost so many pairs of socks. On very cold days, I put tights on her or outfits with built in feet. Even though your baby is a boy, you could put tights under pants or get some Carter's pants with feet attached.

On the other hand, if he is comfortable with bare feet, don't worry about what other people think. They should mind their own business.

Hi K.......first off, don't ever bother with looks otg
her mammas give. As a parent we always want to feel we are doing a good job, and there will always be a mom that will make you feel as if you are not. Learn early on to let that go!! Have you ever heard of robbeez? Target sells them. They are shoes that fit almost like a slipper. They have soles ans they are great. They were created by a mom that had the same problem. :O)

I understand, my daughter pulls her socks and shoes off everytime I put her in her car seat, its her thing to do so I don't put them on until we get out to go in the store and she is usually distracted enough to leave them on.Just bundle the rest of them up and I am sure the feet will be fine as long as you are not outside for long periods of time.

I know he's a boy...but I swear by knit tights. My little girl likes to take her socks off, too, but when I put tights on under her pants, it not only keeps her feet warm, but her legs, too.

oh my gosh when i read this it made me laughf its was so funny because i seem to have the same problem with my one year old but what works for me is i say im going bye bye and your not your staying home because you have no shose on and well it took her a while to get the hange of it but now she wakes me up a 6am or at 3am or whatever time of the day or night and has her shoes and tells me bye bye as in lets go for a ride or something its funny to me but you should try it

My 3-year-old son did and continues to take his shoes and socks off every chance he gets. At that age you can get him some shoes he can't take off - i.e. not slip on shoes. I know they're not necessarily they best for their feet but they will be warm.

My youngest who is now 9 1/2 years was (is) the same way with shoes and socks. Ignore the dirty looks! My son wouldn't wear them until he was cold whether I thought he was or not. Even now, he only wears shoes or socks when we go out. I can think its freezing in our house, and there he is - barefoot. I don't worry about it. I weigh things regarding my children by asking myself if this circumstance or situation will impact their lives when they're 30. If the answer is no - then no worries! :-)

First of all, as hard as it is you need to find a way to not allow other people's dirty looks/comments affect you! No matter what you do/dont do, there will always be those who can't hold back their judgement. Well, screw them! As for the sock issue, you could look for pants with feet built in!! We have one pair that were handed down to us and they are wonderful! I don't know about you, but when my boy isn't pulling his socks off, they're falling off on their own anyway! I think you could just google 'footed baby pants' or something similar. Or, even though he doesn't need them yet, you could put him in a pair of actual lace-up shoes that he can't take off.

I had the same problem and my daycare lady introduced me to Robeez. They are these soft shoes that they can not take off...trust me my son has tried and they do not come off. They are a little ackward when you first put them on, but they are great...you can even wear socks with them. They have many different types. You can get a generic brand that are just as great at Target for like $14. The robeez are like $25+ check them out online. Hope this helps your little one keep warm :)
