Do Any Socks Stay On?

Hi Ladies, My daughter is almost 9 months and she is determined to not wear socks! She is my 3rd and I've gone through all the ones I currently own and she won't keep any of them on.

Has anyone found a sock that stayed on better or what did you do for the winter that worked?

Thanks everyone!
K.

Haha my 10 month-old-son loves to take his socks off and eat them. Sometimes the ones with more elastic on top work better... but what I find works really good, at least when you are out, is just putting shoes on them! Even when they are too little for shoes, you can get the flexible shoes that slip on or have velcro that befuddles their sock-taking-off skillz. ;)

I don't think any socks stay on...they never did for me. Not only do they not stay on, they are easily taken off. I have 3 girls. We went to tights once the weather got cooler. I called them panty hose so my sweeties thought they were doing something like big girls. We did this even under jeans or pants...it helped keep them cozy too!

yup - robeeze are sent from heaven. Target has some just like Robeeze that are much cheapier and work just as well.

I had the same problem with my daughter who is now 2.5 years. I found some Carter's socks that had extra elastic at the ankle that were great, but that took some time to find! However, the best solution I found was to buy an extra pair of Robeez shoes especially for napping or hanging around the house. She eventually was able to get those off too, but for the winter months it worked great. Last winter I let her wear some of my socks around the house over her socks. They went up to her knees and over her pant legs but she loved them and for keeping warm they definitley worked. I used the chenille-type socks and people commented on how cute her "fuzzy boots" were! Now she asks me to put on socks so I'm hoping I won't have a problem this winter. Good luck!!

My trcik wasn't to find socks that would stay on but instead the "shoe" to keep the sock on. At that age my kids wore a little leather bootie that has elastic around the ankle. They are very soft and comfortable (like a slipper) and good for growing little feet. The original brand is Robeeze ($27-$32)and come in all kinds of cute styles. But I have seen knock-offs at Target and just saw them in LL Bean.

Good luck

Robeez do work well. I also found that Old Navy had some socks that stayed on. They were the ankle height socks so they were not a type that you roll over. They came in a pack of 4. They had grippers on the bottom and stayed on great. The teachers at day care told me that my daughter was the only baby they had ever met that didn't lose her socks. She did lose her socks (often which made me crazy) until I bought these from Old Navy. Good luck!

Tights! :o) If you want added layers you could put her socks on first and the tights over them. House "shoes" work good for keeping them on too.

baby gap socks were the only one that stayed on my dtr's feet w/o shoes. i would also put those soft soled shoes at target to help keep the other socks on (like carters socks) and that seemed to work out great too. hope this helps!!!!!

I agree with the previous poster. Put Robeez over the socks...no socks will stay on.

I found that putting socks on and then Robeez over them worked. Robeez are hard to get off, and their comfortable for them to wear even around the house (or whenever they can't be in bare feet).

I had the same problem with my little ones....Robeez leather slipper shoes worked great for us. The slipper is designed so that they can't be kicked or pulled off by the infant. I was aghast at having to pay $25 a pair at first - but it's so worth it. And now, I'm sure you can find them on ebay even cheaper.

My daughter preferred no socks, too. We invested in a pair, or two, of Robeez. They are leather, slipper-like 'shoes'. She could NOT take them off, no matter how she tried. She was able to have socks and these shoes on all day. The bottoms are skid-less, so she was able to practice standing and pulling herself up.
