My son threw up on our upholstered couch and area rug a while ago and it still smells. I tried febreeze and some cleaner but it still smells. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting rid of the odor?
Cover the area with baking soda and let it sit. The longer it sits the more odor it will absorb. If the smell is really bad, you may need to vaccum it up and let repeat. The baking soda WILL work - it just might take a couple of times.

Go to Home Depot, and get this stuff called Odo-Ban. I use it all the time, and it works great. My grandkids got sick at home one time and it did the trick.
You can dilute it and use it as a fabric softener/good smelling rinse also. Just put it where your fabric softener goes. Also it kills germs, smells wonderful, doesn't stain.

Google SCOE 10X. It removes all kinds of smells--even skunk odor and cat pee. But you must follow the directions very carefully. There are lots of testimonials on their web site, where you can also purchase the product.
I was going to say the same thing. I have used vinegar and water. Smells like vinegar for a short time, but fades. Baking soda is excellent also.
My nephews spent the night and a couple of nights later my son went to sit on the couch and the "vomit" smell hit him. Well after 3 months it didn't go away. I tried to wash it, spray it etc... you didn't smell it unless you sat on that side. We (my two sons and I) carried the couch to the garage and hit it with a sledgehammer and pulled it apart and then every week put a little bit of it in the trash until it was gone. Granted our couch was about 13 years old, but it still looked ok. I was at the point where I was willing to go without a couch until I could get one the smell was "yuck".

Try baking soda. I used it when my husband spilled a bowl of cereal on our bedroom carpet and I didn't know, so I didn't get to tend to it immediately. It worked for me.

Walmart has a pet order remover, can't remember the name but it's in a white bottle with a pink cap, that takes the smellof urine and pet vomit up, so you might give that a try. You just spray it on and leave it to dry. It has an enzyme in it that does the trick. Try it on an inconspicuous spot first. Good luck
Good Morning B., you might try spraying the area with white vinegar and water, let it dry and then sprinkle a little bit of baking soda on it. kind of dust it in to the material. Unfortunately I use this to get the pp smells ( from puppy) out of my carpet. My doggie is 1 now and I am still finding puddles once in a while.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I agree, a pet cleaner is best. I think it's called Nature's Miracle, though. It can be expensive ($20/gallon?), but SOOOO worth it!
I'm not sure if this will wrk - but there is a product at the Pet Stores called "Natures Remedy"...it's for cleaning and deodorizing pet accidents (urine and vomit) so that the pet doesn't smell it again and do it's business in the same place again. It takes even minute traces of smells like that out of carpet and upholstery. Don't see why it wouldn't work for human issues too. Good Luck
